Birthday celebration! The most wonderful overnight stay at Tan Hill. Cosy double bedroom overlooking rugged moorland. Friendly staff and great pub food classics. Open fires with gales blowing outside, felt safe and warm. There was a wedding celebration and we got invited into the barn for dancing into the wee hours. Thoroughly enjoyed hearty full English breakfast following morning. 5* stay.

Fantastic stay! We came for the comedy night and an overnight stay. Comedy night was absolutely brilliant, all acts were hilarious and it was a great atmosphere in there. The bar was busy but it was bank holiday weekend. Again atmosphere was great and to think of where the pub actually is it was really heartwarming. There was a lovely log fire on the go. We had a Sunday roast and a full English the following morning, both very very nice. Staff were friendly, rooms were cosy, views spectacular.

What a beautiful pub. Came for a dinnertime meal 18th May and wasn't disappointed. I had a burger and my husband had fish and chips. The food was lovely and tasty. The staff were amazing. They were so helpful and cheerful, nothing was to much trouble for them. The building is fantastic, the surrounding area is breathtaking. There are plenty of tables and even more outside when the weather is good. We were sat next to a wonderful roaring fire. We are planning on coming again to try those massive Yorkshire puds. Fantastic location, basic but perfectly adequate accomodation in a double en-suite room. Unbelieveably good shower!!! Excellent food and a fantastic atmosphere (Thursdaty night live folk music). All alone on the Moors in a great landscape.

Took my 87 year old mother for ride out and lunch, poorly lit entrance with floor covered in logs and very dirty looking. Two awkward steps with the yellow tape that is supposed to highlight the fact that there are steps there was so dirty it wasn’t visible. Anyway ordered two meals and sat at table 7, there appears to have been a fly infestation, we couldn’t enjoy our food for the flies in the window and attacking our food. Not a good experience. Whole place looked like it could do with a deep clean

Good food and great beer. We stayed in the family room which was generally great, although the bunk bed mattresses are extremely lump and need replacing. Would have been 5 stars, but breakfast only starts at 9.00, which is just too late for many guests.

It is the whole experience that is fantastic. The staff are amazing and everyone is so friendly. The room is comfortable and we had the best sleep of our holiday. The view from the window was a view from the top of the world. An early morning walk and a great breakfast is doesn't get better than that

What a place! Superb scenery, great quality of accommodation, buzzing social scene, super tasty grub and an unrivalled range of ales. Staff also friendly and very helpful. Added bonus that the sun was shining and we were there on a music night. We will be back!!
