My rice was cold and chillie didn’t taste of anything my wife’s lasagna was strange tasting tomato soup was also very strange and roll was warm and soggy , but the worst bit was the flies there were so many at one point we had 7 on are table 3 landed in my dinner just put me off completely in general the place needs a good clean under tables were full of grim my chair had a broken arm rest and the place was very cold in general as well I really wish I hadn’t bothered going in but you live and learn and won’t be going back . Reading other reviews it seems people are more interested in portion size than quality shame as exterior is beautiful

My friend & I had both eaten here before but quite some time ago so after deciding to drive out here from Lincoln we were very pleased to have made the trip. Having booked beforehand, we were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us to our table & took our drinks order a few minutes after deciding on what to have. Our meals chosen she returned to take our meal order…my friend chose the Vegetarian Chilli & I chose the Vegetarian Chilli in a jacket potato. Unfortunately, she stated that they did not have any Chilli so we were left to decide on our second choices. She returned a few minutes later saying the Chilli had arrived so both settled on our original order & so pleased we did. Our portions were very large, fresh & so very tasty…best Veggie Chilli ever! Highly recommend…. Neither of us could manage a dessert which was a shame as we saw quite a few being served & they looked fabulous! The staff were happy, welcoming & friendly making it a totally delightful lunch & we will, no doubt return soon. Reasonably priced excellent food served in a warm friendly atmosphere… what more could you want!

Visited lunch time 15th July 24, this was not our first visit but last time was such a good meal we had to give it another try. Meal choice was again very good with specials as well. Quality of the food is good and sizeable portions. Service was friendly and efficient. Good selection of beers, wines and non alcoholic. What’s not to like. Give it a go I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Having heard from other locals that the food here was good, so when the opportunity came up to have lunch with a friend for our 8 weekly moan put world to rights lunch event Red Lion it was. Midweek arrived to a few folk entering and then saw sign bookings recommended. They had a wake going on in main dining room but accommodated us in the traditional bar area at a nice table. We were greeted by friendly young chatty waitresses who were delightful. We had a laugh with them when we ordered asking for extra gravy with the pie. The starter came out very generous and beautifully fresh side salad on side. The pic came out with mash & fresh veg along with extra gravy. The gravy was what I call proper gravy even has bits of meat in it not this instant stuff. Lots of chatting lovely unrushed lunch with attentive staff and great food. The menu is small and concise portions are large. The menu they do really well and saw other wonderful food coming out the kitchen. If you want traditional clean friendly pub with decent food you have found it here. To finish the meal we had coffee which being a coffee geek, I ordered with bated breath but it came out freshly ground coffee wonderful thoroughly enjoyed the visit. So much I am taking the wife for lunch there tomorrow. We are local to the area and like to support good food establishments which this is one, oh and they serve Bateman. Can remember from younger days waking with a Batemans headache from serious over indulgence but older and wider now !!

A wholesome pub. This is a no frills pub with traditional food. Such generous portions and a cracking choice of puddings. Nothing fancy but I have not had a bad meal here. Possibly a dated dining room, but that makes me love it more. I recommend the fish and chips.

Booked here for an evening meal. I had the pie which was very nice and the wife ordered steak (rare) the steak came out over done so she asked nicely if it could be rare. The second steak came out was okay. All the bar staff were very polite and the pub it self is very nice. But it went wrong when we heard the chef moaning behind the bar about us and the barmaid telling him to be quiet. Which he said he didn't care. I don't normally write average reviews but when this happened it kind of annoyed me. So we won't be visiting again.

Really good value stay, excellent friendly staff. An excellent location and very good for visiting local history and walking/cycling. Oh and a fried breakfast that is best bar none. Would be happy to recommend to anyone without any problems at all.

Went for a lunch with a party of 8 which includes my one and two year old foster children, we was hardly greeted on entry and arrived with 2 tierd and hungry children after the revesby show, we hadn’t even got our drinks ordered yet and to calm my 2 tierd children I used up an opened fruit shoot about 50ml each into their bottles only for the bar lady to come over and rudely express that “in future don’t give children your drinks they have to be purchased on the premises” my foster children would have had a drink, and a sweet and we would have had a couple more rounds of drinks if I wasn’t so belittled to the point everyone else could hear and turn round and I was made to feel like crap, I only wanted to calm my foster children as this was their first meal outing and scared, shame they had to watch me with tears down my face as I ate my dinner and fed them. I couldn’t even finish eating my dinner because I was made to feel so unwelcomed only to try and tell the staff why I was upset for them to just take our plates and walk off while we was mentioning it and pull faces. The best service came from what could possibly be the chef or server as a gentleman in checkered trousers was the only one to greet me, point me in the correct direction of changing facilities on our arrival and also acknowledged my foster children and say hello to them when he was tidying up the carvery area. The bar lady came over and belittled me to only go back behind the bar and stand their for the whole time of our visit and only came out to collect her meal from the carvery not even acknowledging us or the fact I was upset. We adhered to everything they asked for like a deposit and told them how many adults and children was coming excuse they mentioned on the phone people never mention the children and just roll up with them causing problems but we still had to collect our own high chairs and sort the seating out with our hands full. Nobody even asked if our meal was ok during the duration but was very on the mark to ask if we wanted the bill. Wish we looked at all the other reviews first as there’s more than what we expected mentioning the same concerns in regards to the bar staff lady and it being so unwelcoming, made me feel like me and my foster Childrens faces didn’t fit to what clientele she wanted. So thankyou for ruining my lovely day and making me come home feeling like I’m useless and in answer to your response there will not be a future so don’t worry yourself over 3/4 of a fruit shoot.

Customer service was amazing. The owners were advised at time of booking that I am gluten and lactose intolerant, and they went out of their way to ensure that my dietary needs were accommodated for the entire stay - Kerry went did a trip to the shops, which she reviewed with me, to ensure I had an amazing selection of options at breakfast, I was overwhelmed. We had dinner on the evening, food was excellent, portion sizes generous and very tasty.
