Best Western Plus West Retford Hotel

This was our first visit for a two night short break and it worked really well on all fronts. Staff were very helpful including in arranging the right room for us which we found spacious and comfortable. The hotel environment which attracted us worked very well in the good weather. The outside grounds are pleasant and well maintained. We spent a substantial amount of time relaxing in them. We enjoyed the evening meal we tried - aubergine dish and king prawn scallop skewer for starters and braised belly pork and Indian mixed grill for our main course. The dishes had character and quality, definitely more restaurant than standard hotel fare. We look forward to visiting again and thanks to the team who made a positive difference to our stay.

Absolutely lovely stay! I love the hotel and the gardens very much. Safe to say, every day I looked forward to enjoying a nice platter from their evening menu - in their back gardens - throughout my stay at this hotel. The staff were all super amazing and kind. The first day I arrived and after settling in my room, I realised the shower head was not working properly / was blocked. I let the reception now about this the morning after before I headed to work. When I came back in the evening the shower head was completely replaced - brand new! They acted was super speedily so I just wanted to thank you to the staff :)

A lovely hotel with pleasant staff. Lovely rooms with the usual facilities and exceptional food .(compliments to the chefs) The gardens are lovely and well maintained .We go every year for a reunion and are never disappointed .A nice walk into town ,so an ideal setting .

We stayed for one night as a stopover. Hotel and room lovely as were the hotel staff. Breakfast was very good. We booked for dinner in the restaurant. Oh dear...the manager seemed to have zero experience ( and she wasn't a teenager). We sat down, the place was nearly empty but there was a private function elsewhere in the hotel. She brought us menus but there was no drinks menu. Came back very quickly and asked if we wanted to order. I asked for drinks menu as it's nice to have a glass of wine whilst choosing. Ordered the wine but she didn't return with it. Eventually managed to catch another member of staffs attention and she went and got in for us. Food was good and plates cleared. No one checked on us and there was no chance to order dessert as no one came back. Eventually, now fed up I went up to see if I could catch anyone to pay and leave. Young guy printed the receipt and I checked it and we had been charged for dessert as one of us had chosen from the set menu. He asked his manager to come out but she didn't didn't know how to refund us and said " Please have dessert". She got her staff member to process the refund in the end. What a pity. We were staying there and didn't really need to leave but after being left for so long we just wanted to go back to our room. We were there Saturday 29th March.

Quiet stay Quick check in. Room comfy and clean. No plug sockets at the bedside. Very quiet. Lovely breakfast cooked to order.
