Redang De' Rimba

Dirty toilet/bathroom. Room is reasonably clean. Common toilets are filthy. Pool is good. Activities included in the package are well-organized. Food is average. Staff is helpful. Conclusion: great location if you're staying here for a maximum of two days.

The rooms are very dated and need a major overhaul. The bathroom sink is too small and doesn't work. The beach is too far from the hotel (a 20-minute walk); it would be nice if the hotel included a shuttle service in the rental price. The transfer to the jetty is also chargeable, even though it should be included in the rental price in my opinion. The food isn't varied; it would be nice if more effort were made in this regard.

We did not like the accommodation at de'Rimba. We were badly bitten by bedbugs. That was the most disgusting. The rest is below. 1. The person the hotel recommends for transfer offers a transfer from the bus station to the nearest pier (10 minutes drive) for 50 ringgit (we ordered this transfer, then 30 minutes before the appointed time they cancelled it, they withheld 30 ringgit from us as a penalty for the cancellation). A regular taxi driver offered this route for 20 ringgit. In the end, for 50 ringgit we got on the first taxi we came across from the bus station to Merang Jetty (30 minutes drive). The boat transfer from the pier to Redang costs 110 ringgit per person there and back. For the transfer from the pier to deRimba you need to pay the hotel 10 ringgit per person. 2. We were checked in for free in the morning. The territory of the "hotel" is all in garbage, which is thrown around by monkeys. The territory is not cleaned, it feels like you are in a garbage dump. You can't leave things on the balconies, monkeys come and throw whatever they want. 3. The bed linen is dark. It is very unpleasant, because you can't tell if it is clean. 4. The mirrors and glass are all dirty. It is very dirty under the beds. 5. The room is more or less for its price, if it was washed properly and the bedbugs were exterminated. 6. It takes 20 minutes to walk to the beach, almost all the time in the sun. 7. The beach is beautiful, but during the day it is filled with tourists on boats. 8. The cafe on the beach is homeless. There are no sun loungers. You can rent umbrellas, but they give you plastic chairs instead of sun loungers. There is also an awning, but you will have to lie on the sand. Sand fleas can bite. After spending one night, suffering from bedbugs, we went on foot in the morning along a path in the jungle to Long Beach (about 40 minutes walk) to look for other accommodation. At deRimba they charge about 300 ringgit for a boat transfer to Long Beach. Almost all the hotels were fully booked, but we still found normal accommodation and moved there. We had to pay for two nights at deRimba, because we were leaving after lunch. It's good that they returned the money for two nights. In total, we planned to stay 4 nights. I do not recommend it. Or choose another hotel. Or another place (not Redang). The beach does not brighten up the negative impressions of staying at deRimba.

In my opinion, the hotel is overpriced. There is a strange smell in the room, the sink is covered in mold, the chairs on the balcony are so old that they are not conducive to relaxing on them, there is garbage everywhere that no one even tries to clean up. The beach is good, but keep in mind that on Fridays and weekends a huge number of locals from the mainland come to the beach, so much so that there is no room to swing a cat. This is not the case on the other beach on the island. The restaurant in the hotel is good, all the dishes we ordered were delicious.
