Stayed 1 night to attend a wedding at Eden barn . Picturesque location set by a river off a quiet road but with in easy reach of Kirby Stephen. Lovely rooms with super clean bed linen and towels . Great breakfast in a cosy dining area . Great stay, wish it had been longer !

Wow we stumbled upon the kings head after a wander up to Smardale gill viaduct and so glad we did ! Had a fabulous ploughman’s lunch with a twist it was delicious so good we returned the next day for Sunday lunch which was equally good fresh ingredients no microwave frozen veggies here ! Can’t wait to return again soon when we are back in the area

We regularly travel from Kendal to visit The King's Head in Ravenstonedale, and every time it's a fantastic experience. The food is top quality and offers great value for money. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and genuinely make you feel welcome. The venue itself is spotless throughout, with an amazing outdoor space right by the river—perfect for relaxing with a drink. Kenny and Fiona have built a wonderful team and create an atmosphere that feels like home. The drinks selection is excellent, catering to all tastes without being pricey. Whether you're local or just passing through, this place is well worth a visit.

This hotel is an absolute hidden gem and the perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas. The views are nothing short of picturesque, and there are plenty of peaceful nature walks right on the doorstep. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with an incredible attention to detail that makes every corner worth exploring. Each room is uniquely decorated, cosy, and full of character—truly a home away from home. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, ideal whether you’re enjoying a relaxed meal or just stopping in for a drink. What really makes this place special, though, are the owners—so warm and welcoming, they instantly make you feel like part of the family. Can’t wait to come back!

This has to be THE Best Pub in the UK. From the moment you walk through the door, the welcome, the warmth, the decor is just perfect. The 6 rooms are very well appointed and for Kenny and Fiona, nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was fantastic as was the evening meal by the roaring fire. Situated in an idyllic location with gorgeous views next to the river with walks from the door step. I would have no hesitation in recommending this pub. You will be far pushed to find better. In fact I don’t you will find one

TOTAL DISGRACE This was a late booking and I landed at the hotel, I booked a room for 3 adults and everything was looking ok. I got to the hotel at 11pm and the ported said. The room is for 2 adults only, even with my booking being for 3 adults (me and my 2 sisters). They he went on to charge an additional £50 for me having an extra person in the room. After this he also informed me the room service staff leave at 3pm so there was no one available to move a spare bed so one of my sisters had to sleep on the floor. YES I had to pay £50 to sleep on the FLOOR! absolute disgrace. My son spoke to the manager and the following morning and accepted it was wrong but refused to give the refund of £50 in her words. "they still have bills to pay!" they wouldn't even honour the breakfast side of the B&B deal for my sister this also came at an additional cost even after they apologised for making her sleep on the floor. TOTAL DISGRACE
