Econo Lodge Black Hills

Clean room. Breakfast could have been better than processed food. I got charged 5 USD per night from booking through trip.com. The staff told me that it is the fee that they usually charge the guest who book their place through 3th parties. With that, they should inform beforehand. Charging without prior notice is unacceptable.

This hotel is disgusting. I went in to check the room and the floor was sticky, there was dirt and crumbs on the table and tv stand. I could not get lights to turn on. The room had a dingy smell. I went back downstairs to tell the front desk. They argued with me and had one of the “managers” who was not wearing a badge or staff shirt go up to the room with me. Upon going in, he said the lights had to “manually be flipped at the lamp”. After turning on the lights, it was worse. There was blond hair on the “freshly made bed” the comforter had several stains on it, and there was stuff on the walls. You could clearly see the floor was mopped with nasty water from the water lines which explains the floor being sticky. The man said I could wait for the room to be recleaned or another room to be ready. But it’s 9:30pm and it would take another 30-45 minutes. I went back downstairs and told front desk that I was not bringing kids in, packing in luggage, and waiting 30-45 minutes for a room. The hotel does not look like the pictures at all. It is dark, nasty, and smells like cigarettes and chlorine. The customer service was horrible. We did not stay, we left. I would never recommend this hotel.

PSA DO NOT STAY AT ECONO LODGE IN RC SD!!! 03/29/25 My kids and I, my friend and her kids just had a horrible experience!! For starters my friend purchased a room for the night and nothing was working properly in there so she asked for a new room and of course she had to the pay the difference which is fine. Well my kids and I went to visit her and her kids today and decided to all swim together. I informed the front desk the key card for the door wasn’t working properly and asked for a new one for her. The woman told me to hold on and got another staff member which I’m assuming was her husband. He came out and was extremely rude right off the jump. He told me we are not allowed to be there unless we’re paying guests, and that my friend who is a paying guest is not allowed to have any guests over and they are also not allowed to use the pool. Which is understandable and we tried to apologize because we didn’t know of this rule ahead of time because most hotels in rapid let family/friends come and swim when one person is already paying for the room. He became irate and pointed in my face saying we knew the rules and me and my kids needed to get out now and leave immediately. I said okay well we need to change so we can leave. He told me we were not allowed to retrieve our items from our friends room and to just leave immediately. I told him my kids are not walking outside in the cold weather in wet clothes! He informed me they would give me a new clean room to change in but I could not use my friends room which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. He then pointed at my friend and said since she broke the rules she and her kids needed to leave immediately as well, while making comments that her room is a mess, even tho they just upgraded from their previous room this morning! Her room was not a mess! My friends went to grab our items from her room and he came up and said well just go change in her room then leave. I have never in my life had anyone ever treated me this way at a business and especially with children present. This whole situation was uncalled for and my friend and I were being polite and calm the entire interaction, the manager as he called himself was rude, irate, and aggressive. I am just floored by the lack of costumer service, professionalism and empathy as a person. I am truly disgusted with Econo Lodge hotel and management in rapid city SD!!!! Save your money and sanity, stay somewhere else!!

Disappointing Stay Reserved 2 queen room suite which said it had a hide a bed couch buy upon arrival they tried to tell me that wasnt what i reserved. They did give us a room with a loveseat couch. Upon entering the room, which was on the 3rd floor, i couldnt figure out why i could hear interstate traffic so much. Come to find out our window was open with NO screen in it. When we tried to lock the window you could not due to hotel having settled so much. Hot tub worked for a bit but then wouldnt turn back on. TV stand drawers wouldn't stay closed as the room had a lean to it. Upon telling front desk about the window issue the lady, who could barely speak english, acted as if that was no big deal.

Not much sleep with the people in room above us continuously walking starting at 4:00 am in morning.
