We were very pleased with our room ( number 7) on the top floor. It had a large very comfortable bed and the shower was powerful. We liked the view over the roof tops. The stairs are narrow though so not easily accessible to infirm guests. The continental breakfast was adequate and included in the price. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking behind the hotel was great when we eventually found it!!

Arrived with a colleague in the afternoon you let yourself in with a code. No staff on site. Nice rooms but still no staff when we got back after dinner. About 12.30 the fire alarm went off - guests gathered outside - we rang the emergency number twice - went to voicemail so we called the fire brigade who established no fire and on the third go they got through on the number. A man arrived who spoke little English and said he was not the manager but alarm turned off. No fire but v cold after an hour outside. No apology or explanation- potentially dangerous situation.

Overall this is a nice hotel, behind a very unassuming frontage. Our room (room 1) was large and comfortable. Internally the part of the hotel where the bedrooms are looks like it's been refurbished or redecorated quite recently, because everything was clean and smart. The rooms are furnished in a very elegant sort of style, with lots of wood around. There's a classy looking "lounge" on the first floor. The staff were all friendly. There's a car park (payable) just a minute or two's walk away. The hotel is in a great location. A couple of niggles, hence the 4 stars... breakfast really wasn't good. The room price includes a "continental" breakfast, which is toast, a croissant, a choice of two or three cereals, ham, cheese, fruit juice and tea or coffee. It really is very minimalist, and for the price of the room I would expect a better breakfast. Yes, you can pay for hot dishes or a cooked breakfast, prepared in the deli that's next door but is part of the same establishment, and I'm sure it's very good. But you shouldn't have to pay. Strangely there isn't a menu on the tables, only in the bedroom. It all seemed very odd, especially as I can see there are past reviews criticising the breakfast. Secondly, we were staying for two nights, and expected the room to be made up on the second day, but it wasn't. Again I can see other reviews saying the same thing. I don't know if they *never* service the rooms, or only rarely. We were certainly not told in advance that the room would not be made up. It wasn't a big issue, but again seemed strange. But apart from those two negatives, I'd recommend the Falstaff for a comfortable and well-located place to stay for a visit to Ramsgate.

After a not so great drive down from London we were delighted to find we were staying in such a lovely little hotel with friendly and efficient staff. Our room was very nice too and we felt as though we lived there after a few hours! Would recommend to anyone seeking a short break in Ramsgate.

Pleasant enough with a few niggles. 1. The check-in form is *extraordinarily* long and asked for my email address and phone number, both of which were already known to the hotel as I booked online and was sent a text message with the door code. 2. The continental breakfast did not feature the promised cheese and ham. 3. The shower in room 6 was not at all powerful.

This was memorable, for the wrong reasons: six of us had 6 rooms booked for one night, all by one member of the group, through ***********, On arrival we were told that only 3 of the rooms had been paid for so we must pay for the other 3 in order to check in. Although this seemed highly unlikely, we felt compelled to do as demanded and so that we could get going with our planned afternoon walk. We finally managed to get Falstaff staff to recognise their error before leaving the next day. The errors also included charging more for at least one of the rooms than the booking price. The saving grace was that rooms were clean and pleasant. However, one of us had to request a change of room as the ground floor/basement accommodation (bedroom and en-suite) was unheated ie the radiators were turned off. The room (with a rug over quarry tiles) had been unused for some days and so was very cold. Other points: we were charged £10 to use the car park (listed on the website as free); there are no staff on site overnight; breakfast is continental; there is no restaurant.

First of all I want to say a big thank to Alex when first speaking to him on the phone to book. Alex was so helpful & very friendly & helped out with everything. On arriving we booked the self contained flat 1x room with double bed, 1x room with 2 singles both with en suite which was absolutely amazing. There is a living space with kitchen which has got everything for cooking., & has a big veranda for you to sit outside on top. The self contained flat was classed as room 10, but has other contained flats aswell, & normal single/double rooms available if yiu didn't want to stay in the flats. Our flat was amazing & very very clean, & there was towels provided. The falstaff is a little hidden gem, & we where so pleased that we found you. Definitely would stay again.once again thank you to Alex & his team for making all us feel welcome.

This is a charming hotel in the centre of town, the staff are really welcoming and helpful , the rooms are cosy and parking nearby. Very good value for money, breakfast is a light continental there’s a small bar downstairs. Room facilities are fine and the bathroom is ok

Lovely old building, outside freshly painted so off to a good start. We stayed in actual hotel whilst family had apartment next door Room 6 was a bit a small but comfortable whilst the apartment is very spacious and contains everything you would want except a bottle opener! None of the accommodation was ready for us at 3.00pm and we didnt get keys until 4.00pm although we were allowed a free drink because of this. We were not aware that the chef is not there on Mondays or Tuesdays, however there is board outside , this only appears when the deli (next door and owned by the hotel) is open which says this but nowhere on the website and we were not advised until Tuesday morning when we asked for hot food. The free continental breakfast is abysmal - just ham, cheese and yoghurt with the promise of croissants/toast but laid on a very small table not enough to feed a mouse! Would suggest paying separately for breakfast rather than including in room that way you would get a decent continental and surely wouldnt add too much to the prices of the rooms However plenty of restaurants/cafe nearby to get a decent breakfast. The hotel remains open for guests but closes at 6pm so you are given a key to get in and lock up. Our room was not made up on Monday night - had I been staying longer I would have complained but only a brief stay didn't worry. The hoteliers didn't really connect with us at all other than explaining a bout locking the door and didnt seem particularly welcoming per se. All in all an unusual experience and rather disappointing, although I loved Ramsgate and the surrounding areas
