We were a group of four traveling in December. We stayed in a cabin overlooking the water. Two rooms had huge beds, while the third "room" was really an attic with slanted walls and four single mattresses on the floor. This was not what we expected and the cabins do seem to vary, so don't depend entirely on the photos you see. Our cabin was beyond a very steep hill, slightly far from the main area. This made it quieter, but also was less convenient. To our surprise our cabin had a washer/drier. We had contacted the resort in advance inquiring about laundry, and they told us there would not be any facilities. There was also a gas fireplace, but no instructions on how to use it, so we had to figure that out on our own. SAUNA: The spa treatments were fully booked in advance, so we were not able to enjoy any of them, and the snow and rain was so intense that we skipped the outdoor sauna. FOOD: We tried all three restaurants: one only serves pizza, one is a cafe, and one is a proper restaurant. All were good, but the restaurant was expensive. We loved the free breakfast – many options and vegetarian friendly. We wished we had brought our own food and more medicine. Some of us caught colds and they didn't sell any meds on premise. We also didn't know our cabin would be stocked with some alcohol and snacks, but we skipped these to avoid high prices. WEATHER: At times the weather was so severe that we couldn't even drive to the store 15-20 minutes away to get food or medicine (some of us got sick). We were also surprised that the resort did not sprinkle very much gravel or salt on the icy roads and walkways. Many of us were slipping around and falling on the black ice. EXCURSION: We had booked the RIB safari tour. There wasn't much information about this, but they give you a full waterproof body suit to wear over your clothing, along with boots and goggles if you want them. The waves were a bit dangerous, so our tour was cut short. We were told it's be about 1.5 hrs, but it was only about 30-40 minutes. No partial refund was provided. We did, however see eagles, so that was cool. AURORA: On our third day, the skies cleared and we had a wonderful northern lights sighting, so it was all worth it. It lasted a couple hours and we felt very lucky.
