We came for lunch only on a Sunday. Greeted by very friendly efficient staff. The pub and dining room have all been freshly refurbished and we were shown to a table . We requested if we could eat outside and that wasn’t a problem. We ordered Roast lunch & a mains dish. All came out within 15 minutes and served to us in the garden at the rear. All portions were generous and very tasty. Roast potatoes were properly crispy yet fluffy inside. The prices are very competitive and good value. We looked at the breakfast and other menus which all looked good. We’ll be back to try them soon.

Fantastic friendly staff and top notch food . All cooked fresh and piping hot food made on order got to say best food we've had in years . But service very slow definitely needs another helper. Rooms are decent size but dated however new owners are busy updating things. We'd definitely stay again.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Reasonably priced, good food (home cooked and lots of it), clean, located near lots of sightseeing attractions such as stonehenge, white horse, longleat, cheddar gorge etc and friendly, helpful staff (especially Martin and kieran) who will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Well done and thank you.

The Hotel has been recently taken over by a local company that wishes to provide a welcoming experience for its customers. I have to say the money invested to bring an ageing property up to standard has been well spent. However I and some friends that are all local to this establishment visited to have a birthday celebration and that's where it all went horribly wrong. The food was sent out randomly (there was 16 of us). No concern was shown to who ordered what. The sauces for the steaks turned up after we had eaten them as was the side dishes we had ordered. A steak given to one of our party was almost inedible, it was nothing but fat. The manager was requested to provide a replacement and this was when he showed his true colour. He lent over grabbed the knife and proceeded to explain how a steak should be cut. I must emphasise that some of the food was lovely. The guy waiting the table was brilliant. However the manager (Bald, arrogant and unmistakable) was less than one would expect from a new business looking to progress. Please put your "manager" behind customer facing scenarios as he obviously cannot cope.

Stayed there 4th September, paid for four nights, stayed for one the road noise is so bad didn’t get any sleep, everywhere worn out carpets ect, had a pint of lager in the bar tasted like vinegar, had a bad stomach for four days, diarrhoea ect, had to book another hotel in the area , this cost me a extra £340 , on top of what I lost there, I can say it’s the worst experience I have ever had , I would say don’t go there get a tent you will have more luxury in that

This is a very basic hotel but if you're not bothered by frills, then you might be OK here. The single room (rm 5) was clean, sheets and towels were good quality and the bed comfortable. Parking is available too which is useful. However, the age of the building means no double glazing so I might as well have been sleeping on the hard shoulder of the M4! The traffic noise is awful, it started to quieten down around midnight but it was busy again at 6am so very little sleep which was a shame. I believe the owners are in the process of updating the property so there was no breakfast available although there are a couple of local cafes available. Lots of drawer space but no wardrobe so you'll have to hang your clothes off the drawer handles or the door. Tea/coffee making facilities are there but very basic. If it wasn't for the noise, I'd have been happy enough to stay but it was ridiculous, so I've had to spend another £200 to stay elsewhere for the remainder of my visit.
