My mum's 80th birthday adventure and the accommodation was faultless - we stayed 3 nights on a ground floor apartment. We requested twin beds - super comfortable, nice linen, warm and cosy. The bedroom is at the back of the apartment so lovely and quiet with no road noise. Fabulous lakefront location and only 3 mins easy flat walk to restaurants and bars. Highly recommend. Next time will try for a first floor apartment to have a balcony and view. Looking forward to coming back!

Stayed here for a couple of nights and ate in the Observatory restaurant both nights. Service wasn’t too bad with friendly and attentive staff, the food was good too (prawn curry and chicken bao’s). I was on the fifth floor and had a nice big room that was a little let down by the view which overlooked more of the hotel rooms. Only issue I had was all of my towels were removed when my room was cleaned, so on the morning of checkout I had to dry myself with a hand towel which was obviously not ideal. Reception staff were okay but I didn’t find them overly personable compared to many of the their hotels I stay at. It’s only a short walk into town although be aware that when coming back the hill is a bit of a steep one - worth bearing in mind if you have children or elderly family. All in all though a pleasant stay

Definitely! Book a lake view room! The pictures were taken in the room and balcony.
Don't expect too much from the room facilities, it's just the level of domestic homestays, but the scenery is really beautiful! The front desk staff is very friendly. We are a family of three, and they also took the initiative to provide sofa bed extra bed service (Figure 1) There is no free mineral water, you can ask the front desk for free tap water, boiled water can also be used to make tea, no odor. The hair dryer is Dyson 🤩 It's a 5-8 minute walk from the town center, but there is a big slope, which is a bit unfriendly to the elderly and people with poor legs and feet, and it will be a bit tiring. It is not recommended to drive by yourself, because parking in Queenstown is really too difficult (◍•﹏•)

Staysouth properties are an excellent provider. We stayed in Villa 10. The property is in excellent condition with all amenities available. It is a 5-minute walk from town, which makes it very handy without the inconvenience of having to drive to town and find parking. Communication from Staysouth was timely and detailed. I would not hesitate to recommend Esplanade Queenstown

The hotel was a little bit old and remote with the town center. We did not find the TV remote control at the arrival day and finally found the same under a bed. One rubbish bin was disappeared after the room service and my USB cable got stuck by the wheel under the bed.

1. Location: It's convenient and great if you don't have a car as it's only 10 mins away from the city centre. There is a bus stop to go to the airport and city just next to the hotel. There's the Queenstown Trail track just down the road if you wish to have a pleasant walk along the lake. 2. Service: The guy who did our check-in did it like he was repeating a song that he was fed up with singing. Good for those in a hurry who like express check-in with 0 personalization or care but that was NOT a 5* check-in. 3. Room: Booked a standard room on Luxury Escapes, but I don't think the hotel should be on this ”high standard” booking platform. Our room was on the ground floor, so everybody could see us and our belongings. The room was old and small. We had very little room left being 2 people with 2 big luggages. One of the two glasses in the bathroom was still dirty from the previous guests. The blinds didn't work properly and we had to find tricks to close them so people wouldn't see us get changed or sleep! Your sleep might get disturbed if passersby are loud and drunk lol. The washing machine was literally just in front of our room door (a thin door) and woke us up super early one morning. The TV didn't work. Big lack of plugs outlets. Overall, if you're planning on spending the entire day outside and getting back to the room just for sleep then you're fine but don't expect anything fancy.

This hotel is located on Ferhill Hill, about a 5-minute drive from Queenstown. There are several rows of townhouses with unparalleled lake and mountain views outside the yard. The green space is public, and compatriots will walk around from time to time.
The facilities are complete, but please note that if you stay for multiple days, they will not be cleaned and bath towels will be replaced.
The room has complete kitchen facilities, a washing machine and a dryer. Even the bathrooms are on the second floor. It is a bit inconvenient to go upstairs when you need to go out.
Although each home is equipped with a garage, cars of Alpha size and above cannot be accommodated and need to be parked at the door.
There is no breakfast, which just gives us room to play. Unfortunately, large supermarkets have to open through the city, so if you drive from the north, it is more convenient to go to Countdown or Parknsave in advance to purchase.

The restaurant was nice and food was good, that’s the only nice thing I can say. Our room with a view was right on top of the car park. No privacy whatsoever and the view had a big tree in front of it. Not quite what we expected for $330 a night and it gets worse, please read on. On arrival and needing to use the bathroom I quickly found out the toilet brush has not been cleaned in months, it stank the whole unit out. It was filthy!! I complained immediately to a staff member outside the unit doing cleaning rounds. They sent a cleaner up to re clean the bathroom and get rid of the smell plus they replaced the brush. We were not offered a clean room, I was almost sick 🤢 at the time and I really thought that was the least they could do, that brush was disgusting and it will be forever imprinted into my memory. 😩 There was also Mould growing in the corner of the bath/shower, the place is not cleaned properly. The beds were hard and uncomfortable, they charge $20 a night for you to park your car and they take $200 bond at the beginning of your stay, charge you the $10 exchange rate and when you go to get your money back they charge you another $10 to give it back. A $330 room turn into a $360 room. Do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else. No photos as it is a memory I hope to forget.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Hidden Lodge Queenstown Only a 5 minute drive from the heart of town and central to all the local highlights that you will want to visit - make sure you take the 40 minute drive upto Glenorchy for some beautiful views. The property itself is immaculate with a homely feel but with everything you need. Shared spaces of dining room, comfy couches in front of a fireplace, sauna and even a hot tub! The rooms are comfy with everything you want after a day of exploring Queenstown. Super comfortable bed, strong hot shower and an incredible view from every window. As previously said by other guests - the highlight are the hosts David & Wendy. Knowledgeable and engaging locals who are happy to provide tips and suggestions to ensure you enjoy your trip to the fullest. David makes a great coffee and breaky and has plenty of wine knowledge to help you find the best wines in Queenstown, and Wendy is just a ray of sunshine who makes sure you feel at home while also giving the greatest tips on local restaurants and bars. Thankyou so much for a wonderful stay - I will definitely be back - maybe for Spring or Summer! Do yourself a favour and stay here when in Queenstown - you won’t regret it!!

Location is good if your need to transit to or from Queenstown Airport. The good is pretty new but I found the toilet was very smelly, may be it was empty for a long time....(no sure why). The staff at the reception is good and helpful.

Outstanding
UUkwonderboyCannot believe how good this place was!... We ended up getting a private 8 bed dorm for 6 of us, the room itself got a little hot, but the staff quickly brought us a fan which helped massively. Toilets and showers were so well kept and the lounge, washing machines and drying rooms made the whole process so easy. Kitchen is absolutely huge and perfect if you plan to prepare you food there. But the staff were something else, unbelievably friendly and one lady even lent me 50c out of her own purse for the lockers, completely didn't need to do it but wanted to help me out!... An absolute gem! I will DEFINITELY be staying here again in future.
GGuest UserI stayed in a King Mountain View room, and while the room felt small it was made up for the fact it was new, modern, well designed and comfortable. The open plan entrance and lobby area felt welcoming. The buffet breakfast included in the room rate was essential and super convenient to fuel up before heading up to the mountain early every morning. And happy hour in the lobby in the evenings 5-7pm. It is 5 minute downhill walk to the start of town and a 9 minute walk to the NZ Ski bus. On the way back to the hotel there is one block of steep hill to walk up but it is only a two minute section. Even though it was only a short walk into town, after a full day on the snow, travelling back and fourth to the mountain, it was hard to get the energy up to walk into town for dinner each night, being cold and tired. I caught the bus from the airport to the hotel which was super easy and a quick 20 minute ride. The airport bus stop is right outside the terminal. I bought a Bee card on the bus for $5 and the trip was only $1 for adults and 0.75c for children. The bus stopped at Blue Peaks directly across the road from the hotel. And the return bus trip to airport was just as simple. Overall a great stay, with new modern facilities, a fairly central location and friendly staff.
JJ LindsayThis is a fantastic hotel with great engaging staff who show you around the hotel and explain everything when you arrive. The hotel provides drinks, milk tea and a coffee with a coffee maker in the the room. Downstairs there is a really nice hang out area with a complementary happy hour and tea, coffee and sweets. The decor is very moody and is unique from any other hotel I've stayed in. A huge amount of detail is paid to ensuring presentation is on point. There are nice views from most rooms and the location is nice and close to the middle of town. The only disappointment was $20 to use a carpark. That being said, there is plenty of on street parking if required.
GGuest UserLake view rooms are perfect. The hotel is ok and as a Mercure, pricing is reflective in the higher end. It’s about a 20 minute walk into town which is downhill. To many sherbets and coming back I would recommend a lift. The local bus is halfway down the hill also. Bar staff and restaurant staff are smiling and helpful. Front desk need to take some learnings from them. Dinner 1 night was a nice meal accompanied by a nice wine and very pleasant service. Breakfast….save your money and head into town. You are paying for the view. Pay as you go as you don’t want a surprise when you check out.
GGuest UserExperience the most captivating view of the mountains from the location of this hotel. Across the lake to the snowcapped mountains. The spacious balcony is inviting on a sunny day. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows superb. The general layout of our apartment was spacious and equipped with bath tub and all the necessities of a kitchen are available. When we stayed, renovations were underway and although noise was not a problem (long weekend) the reduction in parking spaces was awkward. The only negative I could mention was the bar food was pretty ordinary and staff a little inexperienced but otherwise totally worth the money .
GGuest User Friendly front of house and house keeping staff. Although there are staffing shortages everywhere, the staff here were always available and helpful. Our house keeping team although on a 3 day turn around service, did not get to service our room while we were there, offered towels and extra tea, coffee without hesitation when requested. Thank you so much! The decor is quite out dated and while at first it was off putting, (cream/green interior hallway and furniture, corridor stained carpets, seeing the size of our room and how clean it was made up for it. The bed was a king/possible super king, very comfortable and extra pillows provided. The continental breakfast is more than sufficient. Again the waiting staff I approached where happy to top up, add more (the pastries). Thanks for a wonderful stay!
GGuest UserThe décor of the rooms were excellent and the small touches - such as the music that plays when you walk into the room, and the small bar area, the art work, and the welcome book - were really special. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were quite, and the size of the room was prefect for two people. There is a sauna available to use by in-house guests, which is excellent after a long hike. Overall, the quality of the room was value for money.
There is also a restaurant, but sadly it was not open the day that we stayed (Monday). We were quite upset about that as we had read very good reviews about the chef and food quality! Whilst the staff were nice at check in, they did not give much information about the premises (i.e. they didn't give us a tour or anything), and we had to ask a lot of questions.
The location is outside of town, but a short drive if you have a car, or a short bus ride (the bus stop is right outside the hotel).
Overall, I would highly recommend to stay here!
LLEIIn the middle of the mountain, it may not be as convenient as the frontage hotel, the suites are furnished, the balcony faces the lake, and the scenery is very good. Don't save money and book a room without a lake view. The only downside is that you have to walk 10-20 minutes without going to the pier and the town center. It’s hard to go back to the hotel during the winter night.
GGuest UserWe stayed in Apartment 4 - family of 3 in a 2 bedroom penthouse with kitchen - arrived New Years eve 2023 for a week. All the apartments are different apparently. The location of this property is excellent. Just a stone's throw from the centre of town - 2-3 minute stroll. View was spectacular of the lake and mountains - clear view and no obstructions. Apartment 4 has been recently renovated. It was a spacious and comfortable apartment. Very clean. Carpet in great condition; kitchen well-appointed. Nice comfortable lounge and dining table/chairs. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Shower had great pressure and great heater in the bathroom. Staff were excellent and obliging. Very easy place to stay and no complaints. It's not cheap over the new year period, but nothing in Queenstown is. I recommend this property - apartment 4 anyway. Can't vouch for the other apartments. The big plus for this place is the view from the penthouse apartments - the higher you go, the better it is. Also the proximity to town - perfect. It is on the main road that passes through town, but the bedrooms are back off the road so traffic noise didn't really bother us. Lastly, it has a washing machine and dryer in the apartment which were great. Fridge and microwave. Car park downstairs (locked with code) and also out the front if you have a car. Very pleasant and comfortable stay at this property and we're quite fussy where we stay as a family. We expect everything to be pretty spot on and it was. Apartment 4 has no balcony but has 2 big sliding doors that open the living area right up to the outside breeze. Some apartments do have larger balconies that you can walk onto and sit out there. You should call them and ask to confirm what apartment has a balcony before you book if that's important to you. It didn't worry us at all.
GGuest UserI stayed here two nights on a Riviera Tour of New Zealand. The hotel consists of different linked buildings. However it is very easy to get lost despite them giving you a map. Our rooms overlooked the gardens unfortunately and not the lake. The rooms were ok. A bit tired and in need of refurbishment. However the beds were comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows. The location of the Hotel is at the top of a very steep hill that leads into Queenstown. The walk up is taxing for older people so be aware. The hotel has the usual facilities of bar, restaurant gym and pool. I can't comment on the gym or pool as we did not have time to use it. The outlook from the hotel is over the lake towards the Remarkable Mountains one of the locations used in Lord of the Rings. It is an absolutely stunning place. Queenstown has lots to do. We took advantage of this. The breakfast was good with hot and cold buffet. Plenty of fresh fruit and pastries as well. A group of us ate in the bar on evening after a tour. Everyone enjoyed their food. Drinks were not to expensive either. The place is a pain to find your way round, so allow time for getting lost when meeting people.
