Ambre - Adults only

What can I say? Staying at Ambre was the most amazing experience ever! I do not understand any of the negative reviews on here as for us it was perfect. We've been home over a month and miss it all so much. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a lovely man (can't remember his name as we were exhausted at the time!) He made us feel so welcome and seemed genuinely excited for our upcoming wedding anniversary. He gave us a free premium meal at La Plage restaurant to celebrate. The welcome drink was divine and definitely well received! It's a shame it wasn't available to order at the bar at a later time though. As we'd flown through the night, we were exhausted when we arrived, however, the staff pulled out all stops to get our room ready so we could get some sleep - very much appreciated! The room (312) was lovely, big and clean. The bed was also extremely comfortable, something we were grateful for after such a long flight. We overlooked the hotel gardens and had a small balcony with a table and chairs. Our housekeeper, Letitia, was so lovely and always welcomed us with a smile and chat in the mornings. She gave us some great tips for visiting Port Louis too. The beach was stunning. Yes there was seaweed, or kelp, on the sand, but it's a tropical island, what do you expect?! It didn't take away from the incredible views or the ability to swim in the beautiful Indian Ocean. I would strongly suggest investing in a pair sea/beach shoes as there's a lot of coral and sea urchins in the sea. We had an amazing meal in Dolce Vita on one of our first nights. Riaz went over and above to make the meal special for us, even adding additional items (half a lobster and king prawns) to my mixed seafood platter. He couldn't do enough for us and from thereon in, always welcomed us and stopped for a chat whenever he saw us around the hotel. We ended up having a few meals there and enjoyed every one! We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in Mauritius and had the most amazing meal in Dolce Vita where they decorated our table with fresh flowers and gave us a complementary cake. We hired a car from ABC Car Rental who have a desk outside the shop in the hotel. We were happy with the price quoted for a week but were surprised when the man wasn't there to collect the car a week later. Reception called him and he said he wasn't planning on coming, so we decided to extend the hire for another 3 days (including the day he didn't come to collect the car). We were shocked to find at the end of the 3 days that he'd charged us the same price as we'd previously paid for 7 days. When challenged, he said it costs more to extend it. I would suggest that if you want to hire a car, you either make sure he's coming to pick it up on the agreed day, or use another company. Now onto the beach. Think of postcards of Mauritius and that's exactly what you get at Ambre. There were more than enough loungers to go around with options of shade or full sun. There were also day beds which were

I had a pleasant one-day stay at the hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a perfect short escape. The ambience was relaxing, and the facilities were well-maintained. What truly stood out was the exceptional service. A special thanks to Mr. Deena, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was smooth and enjoyable. His professionalism and friendly attitude added a personal touch to the experience. The staff overall were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a short but restful stay, and I look forward to returning.
