Vila Gale Ampalius

Hotel rooms were clean, staff very helpful,but not a lot of information in English, The down fall was the food, at night it was either cold or luke warm, and not a lot of choice, ate out a few nights.

We’ve stayed at Vila Galé properties many times and always book directly as loyal Vila Galé Club members. Unfortunately, our recent experience at the Ampalius in Vilamoura left us disappointed, especially given our short 3-night stay. We arrived early at 9:30am after travelling through the night. While we didn’t expect immediate access to our room, we had hoped, as club members, to be accommodated with an earlier than usual check-in. We checked again at 1pm and then at the standard check-in time of 3pm but didn’t receive our room until 5pm. To add to the frustration, we were only offered a twin room instead of the double we had booked. After such a long journey, we reluctantly accepted this just to get some rest, but it felt like a compromise on something that should’ve been guaranteed. We were offered a 10% drinks voucher as a goodwill gesture, which we declined. We didn’t want a discount, we just wanted the room we booked, at a reasonable time, to start enjoying our stay. The Standard Sea View room itself is fine and the bathroom with walking shower looks new but having previously stayed in the Superior Sea View, the difference is notable, the latter is far superior in terms of space and views. Well worth extra cost. Unfortunately, none were available at the time of booking. On a positive note, although others had mentioned noise from the nearby beach club, it was quite noticeable but wasn’t a problem for us. Overall, the late check-in took a big chunk out of our short break, and it left us disappointed with a hotel we’ve come to expect more from. We hope Vila Galé takes note and improves the experience for loyal guests like us in the future.
