Last day here today but am looking forward to coming back in February. It has been, for the most part a fantastic stay. A big thank you to Hamada for my lovely coffee every morning. Despite it being the end of a 12 hour night shift, every morning he has the biggest smile whilst he prepares my order. Also a huge shout out to Ciro, who takes the Nordic walking class every morning. His energy and zest have made sure that each walk has been really enjoyable. Thank you to all the staff who work tirelessly to ensure the hotel, rooms and gardens are spotless. The food in the main restaurant has been fantastic, it’s varied and tasty. We always stopped by the lad (sorry I didn’t catch his name) who makes bread outside the restaurant. It’s lovely but I’m sure some guests are unaware he is there! My only gripe is that none of the desserts are labelled so it can be pretty hit miss as to what you have chosen - I can’t stand coconut and got caught out last night thinking I’d picked up some kind of lemon cake . We initially started off in a top floor room in block 21, however after 2 nights of no sleep due to the music going on to 02:30 on the Gala night and then the karaoke until 00:30 the next night, we requested a room change. Without hesitation we were moved to ground floor in block 18, which was then lovely and quiet. WiFi is pretty shocking, however, we went to reception and they gave us a box for the room for which we paid €20 deposit which we will get back when we check out. We tried the Egyptian a la carte and found the food to be lovely. The Italian was also fantastic apart from the tiramisu. It was served still frozen and was basically a tasteless white mousse containing a small amount of sponge fingers….not tiramisu, but we were so full from the other delicious courses, we didn’t need it . My only complaint about the a la carte restaurants was there not seeming to be a non smoking area. If there was we weren’t given the option on arrival and at both restaurants we tried, we were surrounded by cigarette smoke from other tables whilst we were eating. 3 of our party suffered minor dodgy tummies - and no, I’m not blaming it on the hotel/food, however, rather than pay the high prices at the pharmacy for meds, we had a trip out booked so asked the guide to stop off at a pharmacy and we bought the same medication for just a few pounds. So, the flies…..they are persistent little things, intensely annoying and bothersome whilst sunbathing. I found some citronella oil on the sun lounger helped a little. Someone recommended buying Off from the pharmacy, which I shall do on my next visit. So, if the management can sort out the flies, label the desserts and separate the a la carte into smoking/non smoking areas, I’d give it 5 stars!
