Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa - All Inclusive

My first all inclusive experience and it was beyond my expectation. I had a swim out room and was part of the preferred club, with a personal butler and food concierge to cater for halal food. The resort was beautiful with many pools, a serene beach and a lazy river! So many restaurants to choose from plus a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I spent the entire time at the resort with no need for any excursions. There were nightly entertainment, unlimited snacks and drinks [non-alcoholic for me] and twice daily house keeping. Overall, I would stay again for the food [taste, variety and service], amenities [lazy river!] and hospitality [friendly staff].  PS: You will also have access to all amenities of BREATHLESS, the adults only side.

We just returned home from an amazing trip with family and friends. We love this resort and the staff that have become family over the years. Our butler Elias went out of his way to make sure everything went great. Sterling in the preferred pool was always on it and a fabulous bartender. Juan in the buffet breakfast always greeted us with a smile and excellent service. Angel was always helpful getting our pool towels and helping us find space for our group. Franklin the manager for the blue water grill and breakfast buffet is one of the absolute best. This was our 5th trip there. We are always treated like family. The resort is super clean and the grounds are beautiful. We can’t wait to return.

First trip to DR. We had a wonderful experience! Friends and family had told us to look forward to a great time and it was just that. service was great. atmosphere was laid back, casual. rooms and public areas were very clean at all times. Staff was friendly and responded cordially to requests for information and services. Our concierge, Emilio, was available to us at all times. Could not have asked for a finer person.

Let me start by saying this is a 5 star resort and we loved our stay after a shaky start. Got there before 10am. Check in at preferred club was confusing. We booked preferred ocean view king, which says adults only in media files. I was told they only had doubles so they upgraded us to preferred swim out, but couldn’t get into our room until 3. When they took us to our room, it was facing the family pool right by all of the entertainment and children. We voiced our concerns and after a few rounds back and forth, I showed our UVC rep the media spec and she agreed that there was a mistake. The next day they put us in a preferred master oceanfront king. This was a good solution to a big error, so all was well from that point on. (Since then, they have fixed the media page.) Our UVC Rep was Stephanie. She was super helpful and checked in daily. Henry was our concierge. He was incredible and made sure we were taken care of from the second we got there until we left. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great from helping with dinner reservations to chocolate covered strawberries. Blue Water Grill- Victor and Orlando took great care of us. They were knowledgeable about gluten free options. Cin Cin- osobucco and dorado fish both great Mercure- took a long time for waiter to come, but food was decent. Preferred lunch- Andres-had them make me pan seared chicken and veggies. So good. Jorge had a custom chicken mozzarella sandwich for me. Preferred breakfast not good. Long wait for server. Got food wrong. All meat undercooked. Not sure it was gf, so ate very little. Capers- Lisamari and Eddy were great. Caprese salad good, but didn’t look like mozzarella. Calamari good, fig salad good. Got gluten free carbonera which was amazing, but tasted totally bad for me. Hubby said bread was really good. He got chicken parm, which he said was average. Weird that at restaurant bathrooms there are no napkins or towels to dry hands. Only tissues. Preferred beach- windy and nice, but hard to order drinks. I ordered one the only time I saw a staff member, but it never came and I didn’t see any staff for over 3 hours. Went and got our own drinks. Preferred pool- Ismael and Nelis were fantastic. Pool was clean and refreshing. Coquette at Breathless- Erick and Breidi were very attentive and helpful. Got gluten free croissants. Smoked salmon yummy. Duck confit amazing. Breathless entertainment: Let’s Dance with Our Duo singer and guitarist were incredible and needs to be headlining! Queen show was different than last year, but still excellent. Love that they’ve changed up the song choices. Overall great week and we will go back.
