Dhensa Resort

A resort in middle of nowhere. Not user friendly for Senior citizens. About 100+ steps from the restaurant to the rooms. No handrail provided. In the rains, the steps are very slippery Muddy waters in the wash basin. Their was power blackout for about 10 minutes, no back up light or candles provided in the rooms. Restaurant staff very rude ( unlike and very rare in Bhutan) Would never recommend this place.

Very peaceful property... Mesmerising wind sound ... Delicious food... Very good hospitality... Spacious rooms... Close to nature vibes... Kinley Zam in spa gives great massage... Chef made Eggless Chocolate truffle pastry especially for us.

Great location !! Large airy spacious clean rooms…….Good service!!!! Lovely food……..Specially the hot Pakoras. Thank you chef Suraj for that……. Would love to come back for a longer stay with the whole family.. Bhutan is a great country to visit …………

We moved to this hotel after a night in Thimphu. It was wow from the word go. Beautiful hotel nested in the mountain. The place feels brand new and so clean. The room we had overlooked into the nature. So calming. I love the restaurant. So cosy. The food during buffet breakfast and dinner was good. Just too bad there was a tour group that was quite loud during our stay. Kind of kills the mood and ambience. Thankfully we have a corner table away from the main group. Service is very good. The hotel other than the restaurant during meals is quiet. Lovely hotel. A gem .

From the very first view of the entrance courtyard and lobby, you know you're in a special place! Positioned high in a fragrant pine forest (and that's saying something coming from a Canadian), your views of the mountains and the mists as they fall at night and rise in the morning warmth are wonderful. Subtly illuminated walkways are worth exploring. The rooms are large and beautifully appointed, with a wood-burning stove and a very welcome Nespresso Pixie coffee maker. An entertaining and interactive traditional dance performance was presented by way of welcome as the sun was setting. Now, for the food! While buffet-style for dinner and breakfast, every dish on offer is tastier than the next, and anything you may want is available on order. The serving and supervisory staff are keenly attentive to your any need. A shout out to the night food service supervisor, whose name I don't remember, and to the day food service supervisor, Ngawang Samten.

We liked the tranquil setting and comfort of the Dhensa in Punakha. We prefer smaller hotels like this. We had a lovely room (303) that the staff told us had the best views in the hotel. We agree. We had a private deck looking down on the river. The king sized bed was very comfortable and there’s a couch, arm chair and desk chair by the desk. WiFi was good. The bathroom was large and had both a tub and separate shower. The hotel has a good restaurant which, due to its location well outside town, is a definite necessity. The hotel offers cocktails by the bonfire before dinner, and the staff perform traditional Bhutanese dances while you enjoy your drink. They’ll invite you to join them and will teach you a few steps. The dinner was a buffet with Bhutanese and continental selections. We stuck to the Bhutanese and ordered the cheese potatoes and chillies to add to the buffet. Very good. Overall the food was good but not superb. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs and pancakes to order. Our building was down the hill from reception so we only interacted with them at checkin and checkout. Very quick and thorough. All in all, we highly recommend it. Hotels of this caliber come at high cost in Bhutan but provide you a wonderful sanctuary in which to spend the night.
