W Costa Rica - Reserva Conchal

I had high expectations for W Costa Rica, but the experience was deeply disappointing. I traveled 30 hours to be here, jet-lagged and exhausted, only to be met with zero hospitality - no welcome drink on arrival, no welcome amenities in the room, and not even basic complementary essentials like water, tea, or coffee provided. To make matters worse, there were no tea or coffee cups, just cheap paper cups that felt completely out of place in a so-called luxury resort. How pathetic! Who drinks tea and coffee out of paper cups? There were no slippers either — how do they expect guests to walk barefoot on cold floors? The final insult was the surprise extra charges that appeared only after booking, making the entire management feel more like a team of scammers than hospitality professionals. Truly unacceptable; the entire management team needs to be replaced. Every room must have slippers. Proper coffee and tea cups must be used not paper. This was the worst experience ever — worse than a 1-star hotel. This poor experience is absolutely worth a refund — and frankly, the entire management should be fired.

No doubt it is a fantastic hotel; however, how much you love it will depend on what you are looking for. This hotel is beautiful, it has new and extraordinary premises, the rooms are spacious and luxurious. Absolute comfort. In terms of the comfort of the rooms it is some of the best I’ve stayed in. However, there are some aspects why I do not consider this hotel to be perfect: for instance, the hotel has an all-inclusive vibe and is highly impersonal, which is not for everyone’s taste. The family pool (the only one you can use with under age children) is far away from the rooms (you need golf cart transportation), and crowded, as it is quite small for the number of families staying there. The food is good, but the service at the restaurants is not always friendly. It was a good experience overall but I would not return if I went back to Costa Rica.

We recently returned from our second stay at W Costa Rica and it was just as wonderful the second time as it was three years ago. The hotel was still just as beautiful and well cared for. The entire staff works so hard to ensure that your stay is great; to the housekeepers, groundskeepers, culinary team, welcome desk, fitness team, waitstaff and bar team - all of your efforts make for a lovely stay, thank you! There were a few individuals that made our stay particularly enjoyable. Maria at Cocina de Mercado is a ray of sunshine; she's full of joy, always smiling, and does her job well! Paul on the fitness/activities team - likewise, he was always so happy and engaging. I like to think he liked us best, but I'm sure he was that way with all the guests. ;) Carlos at the Living Room Bar - we remembered him from our previous stay and enjoyed visiting with him this time as well. He knows his trade and does it well! Marriott - these individuals are doing an incredible job for you all, please let them know you appreciate them as much as we did! There were a few other individuals that I'd like to highlight: Leo, Guillermo, Carlos (pool bar), and Rosa also made our time there lovely - thank you! If you're looking for a spot to relax, eat and drink well, and be well taken care of, this is it!

My husband and I visited the W Reserva Conchal as a celebration of our anniversary. We had the absolute BEST, most hospitable service across the board from the whole team. The property is absolutely gorgeous with direct access to a public, more quieter beach. Every staff member that we encountered treated us with kindness, respect, and the utmost care. We would like to give a special shoutout to the restaurant staff (Lucy, Robert, and Daniella), Zona Azul staff (Aaron, Brandon, David, and Aelor). We could not have asked for a better place to spend our anniversary! Would highly recommend & cannot wait to return in the future!

The grounds in this private reserve are beyond gorgeous, full of wildlife, awaken to howler monkeys every morning! The beach is breathtaking. The resort is stunning. The rooms are modern and spacious, highly recommend the spectacular ocean view suite. The staff and service are impeccable. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve encountered, it has everything you could possibly want. The lunch/dinner dining options are good but depending on how long your stay is you may want to go offsite for some dining options. With Costco travel our breakfast was included, we opted not to purchase the all inclusive package and still ended up under what the cost would have been for all inclusive, that was with purchasing daily lunch, dinner and drinks. The W is a winner. BOOK IT!!
