Casa Wolaba is everything I hoped for and more. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and at ease. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive, creating a warm, homey atmosphere that made all the difference during my stay.
The location is perfect—just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, and all the action in Puerto Viejo, yet tucked away enough to offer a calm and restful environment. It’s the best of both worlds.
The rooms are spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, with comfortable beds and great ventilation. I especially loved the outdoor common area and the garden spaces—great for relaxing after a beach day or meeting fellow travelers.
Security is also a strong point here, with lockers, secure gates, and a sense of safety throughout the property.
Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or in a group, Casa Wolaba offers true value, a serene setting, and genuine hospitality. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Viejo.

We went with my partner to the private room and the experience was horrible. The staff in charge of reception is a DISASTER, they do not have the slightest preparation and no criteria. Faced with various problems with the guests who occupied the cabin on the first floor, (who first entered the balcony and took the furniture from our terrace without asking for permission, and then arrived absolutely drunk, shouting and violently hours later), We asked the reception to relocate them and in view of their refusal (based on the lack of availability of other rooms), we asked them to return what we had paid for the remaining 2 nights and their answer was no, since in that case, due to policy from the hostel, they would penalize us with 50% of our reservation, before this response we required to speak with the manager but according to what they informed us he was on vacation, so they only answered us (according to our request) 6, if SIX, hours later. In short, if you are over 22 or want to sleep DO NOT GO to Wolaba House
