So cute, little cottage from 1960 with lovely cats, friendly and welcoming staff. Don't miss the breakfast, it's great to have it in the sun and by the river.

Me and my friends went to Puerto Vallarta and wanted to stay in a fun place , yet close to the downtown area where we can enjoy the clubs and the bars within walking distance. Martha ,the hotel concierge was very helpful and made sure we enjoy ourselves at the maximum. The breakfast was delicious specially the huevos rancheros .we do want to return, hopefully very soon .

I stayed for four nights and while the hotel itself is charming and the staff was helpful for the most part, I unfortunately had a very serious safety issue during my stay that wasn't properly acknowledged. On my first morning as I was walking out of the bathroom, the enormous mirror above the sink suddenly fell from the wall behind me and shattered. It came down with enough force that it took the toilet seat completely off, and had I been on the toilet or standing in front of it, I could have been in critical condition. Thankfully I was physically unharmed, but it was incredibly shocking and unsettling. The staff kindly and quickly helped move me to another room, which I appreciated, but beyond that, nothing was offered — no refund, discount, or follow-up. I reached out after my stay to express how concerning the situation was and I received no response at all. I'm sad because I loved this place otherwise, but guest safety and accountability matter. I sincerely hope that future guests don’t have a similar experience.

This was my first visit to Garlands. They staff are all amazing, friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable with a better bed than I have at home! AC and ceiling fan a huge plus. The location is perfect for walking to great restaurants and bars. I look forward to returning soon!

This was my second time staying at Garlands del Rio. It’s such a fabulous place. Very unique, quaint, comfortable, and right down in the middle of everything! The staff are all so kind and helpful. It’s my favorite hotel. I will always stay here when I’m visiting Pueryo Vallarta.

I had a not so great experience at this hotel. I was able to book a room on a discount website at about $54/night. I booked my room at 9:25pm Friday night. When I arrived at the hotel later that evening, I had to stand outside for several minutes waiting for someone to answer the ring doorbell. When I was finally let in to check in, I was informed that I'd be charged a $30 late check-in fee because any check-ins after 7pm are assessed a fee. Of course this wasn't mentioned when booking, and considering I booked at 9:25pm, after the cutoff, I certainly should have been informed of this fee prior to booking my prepaid, non-refundable room. The location is exactly as expected, in the heart of Zona Romantica. The hotel itself is all right, but it's very noisy at night, as the thump thump of music from nearby nightclubs pulsates through the walls. Luckily I had my AirPods but sleeping with them in isn't the most comfortable. Would I stay here again? No. Was it affordable even with the unexpected $30 extra charge? Yes. If you're on a budget and can get this hotel at a low rate, with a plan to check-in from 3-7pm, then you could probably do a lot worse.

Very kind staff! Room are very cute in an incredibly interesting building layout. I had flowers fall in my hair as i lounged by the pool, it felt like a true paradise. Plus cute cats wandering around everywhere! Also has great breakfast options, including vegetarian friendly choices. This place is not wheelchair accessible, but this is consistent across all of Puerto Vallarta’s roadways.

Garlands is an absolutely adorable boutique hotel, located about 10 minutes walking time to the Malecon and beach in the Romantic Zone. It's a quiet little escape from the sights and sounds of the Malecon, with a peaceful riverside breakfast patio area and courtyard pool. If you like cats, Garland has an amusing group of feline residents to make you feel quite welcome. Antonio, in particular, is a great ambassador for the hotel! The human staff are fabulous as well, particularly Martha at the front desk. My only caution is for anyone with mobility issues, as most of the rooms in this hotel are accessed through stairs. Otherwise, I highly recommend Garlands. It's charming, romantic, and lovingly maintained. Will definitely come back again.
