Marina Suites Gran Canaria

Booked this as last minute holiday then read some of the reviews - noise from the Balconies, not enough sun beds, rude staff - but NONE of this was what we experienced. Our flight was delayed and we arrived after 9:30 p.m. Vanessa at Reception was friendly and efficient and the glass of cold, cold Cava was very welcome. We had a Select Suite on the 6th Floor and had gorgeous views towards the pool and sea (which we didn't see until the morning). We ate in El Puerto on our first night - wouldn't return. Very pretentious - ordered a couple of tapas dishes and asked if we could just have a few chips as well. Much frowned upon and we were told "it wasn't their concept". Ignored by the staff which didn't help when we were feeling a little tired. Food at the pool bar is excellent - as is the service - thanks to Alima and Nicola (?). It would be so good if it stayed open beyond 4 p.m. as would definitely have eaten there in the evening. (There was a BBQ with music on one of the nights which was lovely). Breakfast was good - plenty of options. Were able to find a sunbed on every day we went to the pool. Yes people do put their towels out (despite a notice saying not too) but I think that's to be expected on any holiday unfortunately. There is an adult only area which is a little more peaceful. Much enjoyed. There is music in this area which I found a bit loud one day. Requested at the bar is they could turn it down a bit which they did with - no problems. The location of the Suites is by the harbour - easy 10 minute stroll to the beach and great access if you wanted a day trip on one of the Ferries. Local restaurants within another 10 minute stroll. We had a late pick up for the Airport. Weren't able to extend the stay in our room but we were able to leave our bags in a room near the Reception and booked a shower for later that day. Given a key to a room on the first floor and hubby and I had half an hour to shower and change. Worked out well. Although in the past we have opted for Adult Only Holidays wouldn't hesitate to return here. The location right by the sea was blissful - especially in the evening listening to the sea and watching the sun go down.

Stayed here as a couple .must say this hotel is very nice especially the rooms views over the marina which are breathtaking .the pool is amazing with views over the sea .the breakfast had a good choice but a little bland .now gor the downside .why is there a sign stating sunbeds not to be reserved .well we struggled to get two together even at an early arrival. The pool area along with the sunbeds seem to be too small for the amount of people staying I the hotel .so have to say we won't be returning .it's a shame ..

I’ve had my eyes on this hotel for a good while but I decided on other areas of Gran Canaria before. This time we decided to try Marina Suites out for three nights. The hotel has very good reviews here on Tripadvisor but I would not say that is quite true to reality. The rooms are cute and have good space (we stayed on one of the upper floors). Water and a small bottle of wine greeted is, which is always nice. A/C worked well. The view over the pool and the ocean is nice but the noice from the shipyard is sometimes disturbing. The check-in and check-out girl seemed incredibly bored with her work. I don’t think she smiled even once. So perhaps we didn’t feel very welcomed. We had B&B and the breakfast was alright with good choices and cava if you wanted. All the cookies and cakes were very old though and you couldn’t chew through them so we skipped that part of the buffet for the rest of the mornings. The pool area is neat but perhaps a bit small. The setting is lovely though and the pool was kept nice and clean. I all it’s absolutely an ok hotel but front desk service needs to be improved when it comes to hospitality. If you have any trouble walking I would not stay here due to the fact that it is quite far from the main restaurant area. It takes at least 20-25 minutes to walk to Mogán Mall. But if walking is not an issue then go ahead.

Third time. Will be back in the next few years. Guaranteed. This review is not only for the hotel but for the people scrolling through reviews to thoroughly read what the accommodation and area around is like. Staff: consistently kind and helpful, like previous years. Location: just a five minute walk around the harbour to reach shops, beach and restaurants, a further 15 minute walk to market and mall. The hotel is NOT located on a mountain. Excellent location. Food at hotel: buffet breakfast have a great selection, worth picking bed and breakfast. Lunch pool bar is OUTSTANDING. Large delicious portions which could easily serve two. I recommend nachos, chicken wings, the burger and sandwiches. And I cannot forget El Puerto, top rated restaurant in Puerto Rico for a reason, and in the same building as you! Room: clean, modern, large and comfortable. Has all the amenities for a comfy stay. Pool area: pool large and spotless (coming from somone who hates dirty pools). Enough loungers distributed. Restaurants I reccomend: messapico, tipsy bee, EL PUERTO, selvativo and mamma chef. All In all, this hotel won’t let you down. I will be back again with family. If you want a relax and unwind but entertainment nearby, this hotel is for you.
