Grand Hotel Gota de SAL

Reservation dates wrong. Not given ocean side room as booked. Extremely loud music from across the street at Lauros until after 11:30pm. Then kids jumping and screaming in pool, steps from our door, at midnight. Roaches in bathroom. Two days later Sebastion got us into an ocean side room. Beautiful view. No cockroaches. Sebastion was very understanding and worked to resolve the problems. Lulu in housekeeping is great. Learning that you get what you pay for.

The staff is friendly and the location is great, but… BUGS. My toddler, infant and I got eaten up in bed and have been itchy since. When I said something to the staff, they said that they’ve heard that there are bugs before and that was it. We ended up leaving a day early as a result. We’re hopeful they’ll refund the night we didn’t stay.

We stay here about once a year for a few days at a time - usually at the beginning or the end of our trip to the area. You cannot beat the location and price! Walkable to the town center, tons of great restaurants and little shops, AND on the beach. The cute guitar shaped pool is shallow enough for kids, and shady in the afternoon, and warm all day. The service here is always very friendly, the rooms are clean if not a bit sparse. It's not the fanciest place you will ever stay, but it is comfortable and very excellent value for the location and service. We keep coming back for a reason!

We arrived into Cancun early in the morning, so before making the drive to our first destination, stopped in Puerto Morelos. We walked down to the beach and ended up at the beach club connected to the hotel. Its $300 pesos ($150 if you're staying at the hotel) for a palapa rental for an entire day - this includes 2 loungers, 2 tables, and 4 chairs. All in all, we spent 3 different days at the beach club. Antonio provided amazing service to us, and even remembered us days later! We actually needed someplace to stay from an extra night, so we booked for later in the week. And it did not disappoint. We were booked into a room on the far back left of the hotel, with a second door that opened out to the beach side. The room had 2 full beds, full bathroom, plenty of surfaces for luggage, bags, etc. It also had a mini-fridge and a safe. The hotel is very central, and we walked everywhere we wanted to go within Puerto Morelos proper. We were able to leave our car parked in the parking lot with no security concerns. There is a live music bar across the street (Lauro's) which can be heard from the hotel, but they do shut down around 11ish. So be aware if you are looking for quiet in the evening. Other than that, it was quiet, and leaving the window open, you can hear the ocean. When we come back to Cancun/Puerto Morelos, we will be booking at Gota de Sal!

We stayed for 10 days and it was perfect everyday! Close to the beach, super nice and efficient staff, comfortable, safe and clean. There are many restaurants and the supermarket is close. Also included a small fridge and plenty of room for our things. We will be back!
