The overall performance of Intercontinental's buffet restaurant is quite good. As soon as you step into the restaurant, you will be attracted by its elegant environment and spacious and comfortable seats. The variety of food is dizzying. The freshly cooked rice noodles in the hot dish section are made with skillful chef skills. The rice noodles are chewy, the sauce is rich and full of flavor. In the dessert area, all kinds of cakes and breads are freshly made, and you can smell the strong aroma of milk from a distance. The fruits in the fruit section are extremely fresh, as if they were just picked from the orchard. The restaurant also offers special local Cantonese food, which is very thoughtful. The service staff always have a smile on their faces, especially the waiter Andrea's quick service response, making the whole dining process relaxing and enjoyable.

This place has everything going for it: location, beach and grounds. However, it is completly sabotaged by the owner's lack of customer care, unprofessional management and unvillingness to invest anything in maintenance and repairs. As a result, they are left with guest rooms that have appliances and interiors in need of replacement and repairs. The rooms smells strongly of mold, and large cockroaces were often seen in my apartment. There is no wifi in the rooms. The sliding doors to the balcony were too heavy for my girlfriend to open and close even attempts to repair. Wood infested with insects, leaving piles of dust on the floor. All pillows were flat and black from mold. Frequent LOUD karaoke on weekends seemed quite out of place in a place like this. I rented a smaller apartment to store my personal belongings while back in Europe in the summer. When i came back, my boxes has been moved next to an exterior wall and 4 boxes with its contents were full of termites, destroying the boxes and contents. The owner was completly unconcerned and never suggested a compensation nor did she say sorry. I did not pursue it. I dealt with this during my one year stay without complaing about all of it, only the sliding door, broken TV and wood infestation were pointed out to the owner. Her immediate response was that she could not handle this and suggested i should move out if not happy. I was quite shocked of her response, but this is typical of how she deals with issues......by not dealing with it. I promptly moved out from Squares. This is the forst time i write a negative review on anyone. However, the experiences i had at Squares made me ferl it was my duty to inform others

The property advertises that there is "Wi-Fi in every room", but that is false. Last January I booked a room at Squares and discovered there was no Wi-Fi in the room. Having a good internet connection was important to me because I had some business dealings going on at the time and communication was critical. When I asked staff about it, I was told to go outside and walk around the premises until I could get a signal. That didn't work so I had no alternative but to checkout and book a room at a different hotel. Despite the false advertising about Wi-Fi, Squares refused to refund me for any of the $250 I had prepaid for 4 nights even though we never really occupied the room.

Be sure not to be misled, this is not within the white beach shoreline. But if you want a serene beach side, this place is quiet and less crowded, where you can also enjoy swimming. The family room is spacious with a sea view balcony, though you need to climb to the 3rd floor..You can cook food, however, kitchen materials are incomplete. Customer service needs improvement as the staff are not that responsive and sometimes nowhere to be found if needed. Place is also far from white beach and dining areas, so you need to add ample budget for your transpo via tricycle .

After 5 years of not visiting Puerto Galera, I think I will need another 5 years to recover just because my whole family's experience in Squares was truly terrible. We arrived in Squares only to find out that the "booking manager" made a big mistake in our reservation. We were informed that she booked us for 2024 instead of 2023. Receptionist then had to find us rooms as it was a Friday and weekend approaching means most rooms will be occupied. We booked for 40pax so you can only imagine our frustration and worry after hearing that the booking manager made error in the system. First - they gave us 2 rooms (7 of us were there for the Friday night and the rest will be arriving on Saturday night). The "deluxe" room was horrible, it was meant to be for 2 pax. No problem with the size of it, but it was really dirty! It's obvious the room was not prepped at all for guests. The other room was in another building - it looks clean, no problem with this one. But we are here for a family reunion and it's just weird to be so far apart. So we asked the receptionist again if they can offer something else. She mentioned the "bungalow". We checked it out and asked them to clean it. There's still the question of what will happen to the rest of our relatives who will be arriving the next day. I eventually called the person who managed our booking, her name is "Trisha" and asked her what will then happen. She said they can book the rest of the party to their other establishment. I said that this is not good because this is a family reunion, and the error was not from our side so it will be unacceptable. The other building is far from the beach, it is near the main road so I really do not understand how this is a proper solution. Eventually they offered this family room and that we will pay the same amount agreed in the booking, but that they will not charge us for the bed foams that are supposedly extras seeing as they've already caused inconvenience and hassle to us. We just really want to go through with the planned reunion as it has been five years since we last saw each other. The next day (Saturday), the rest of the party started to arrive. Suddenly, the receptionist approached me as I was hanging out by the pool to watch over my nieces and nephews who were swimming. The receptionist said that the "owner" Rose wants to talk to me. I asked her why, and she said it's because of the payment for the bed foams and that the owner insists on paying for it. I really didn't want to be bothered by any of this anymore and to be honest I just couldn't wait to leave this place so I asked her to wait for my mother to come back as she arranged this whole trip for us and I don't want any more stress. The receptionist went back to the "hut" which serves as their front desk I guess...and there I saw another lady who I assume is the owner Rose. I truly can't understand why she can't just approach me then and why she needs to send someone else when she's just close by? Ma

This was the WORST PLACE EVER! If you want to experience NIGHTMARE, this is it! No customer service, no nothing! The owner is there but she doesn't care. I think she doesn't know the meaning of "customer service". We were greeted with a room that has fishy smell and a dirty toilet bowl. CR sink drain is broken. Ref is full of rust. Kitchen sink clogged. And just when you thought nothing could be worse, at around 4am the AC stopped working! My husband went to the mini hut "reception" to see if we can get them to send someone to come and fix it and there was no one. I tried calling the contact person. First call got through but she didn't pick up. I called again and the phone has been switched off. I called the other phone posted on their FB page and it's switched off too. It was only at 8am when they started accepting calls again. I demanded for a room change but they said they are full and that I have to wait til 11am. The room that they will transfer us to is facing the pool and I saw there were a lot of people there when we came and I can already imagine how noisy it will be. Plus, I've chosen this place as I particularly like what they posted on Agoda which is a twin room (they call it quadruple room) facing the beach. Owner said there's no available room with beach view. So we decided to just check out at 8am and asked them to refund our payment. The owner refused. She said, no matter what happened we will still be charged because we stayed there already. Even we were awaken at 4am and was no longer able to get back to sleep due to the faulty AC. Yes, she's aware, but NO, she doesn't care! By the way, they sent a technician and he claimed AC was set to fan. Now they even have the nerve to twist the story. If it's set to fan then it would have been hot from the moment we get into the room! My 15 y.o. son checked it before we sleep because we wanted to make sure it was already set to the max 10 and high cool and my son has confirmed this. So there's no way that what the technician has claimed is true. My advice when booking for a place to stay, check all available reviews online. If you see even 1 single negative review, don't ignore, unless you want to be the next one to get to experience how horrible this place is. We booked this place early and I only checked the reviews on Agoda. The most recent 1-star review on Google, it wasn't there yet when we booked this place, but we practically experienced the same thing.
