This was an absolutely beautiful resort. I would definitely stay here again. Even with some construction being done, it was very clean, staff was very polite, friendly, and helpful, the grounds were immaculate, the food was very tasty at all the restaurants, drinks were very good (not very strong, though), the pools were clean and even included a swim-up bar, and excursions were reasonably priced as were the taxi services. My favorite foods were the flank steak, the delicious pork tacos from the lunch food truck (best in my life), and the crepes! The rooms were clean and presented nicely. We did not watch TV or partake in using housekeeping for our stay of only a few days, so I have no comment on that. I wish there had been more pool and beach chairs, but we made it work and this was a very small inconvenience. Also, evening shows at 9:30 with very talented dancers as well as a kids' club activities. All in all, you really can't go wrong staying here!

We stopped at this hotel at the end of July 2025 for 2 weeks. We had upgraded to privilege as there was an offer from Tui to do so. The staff were all so helpful and welcoming. The only one we did try to avoid was the guy trying to push the Exclusive package. I can’t remember his name but apparently it translates to ‘lettuce’ in English! He was the only one we disliked, all other staff members were friendly and helpful. Having a family of ridiculously picky eaters, this was one concern. However, the buffet was fantastic and my daughter and husband would choose that over a restaurant! The food started for breakfast and didn’t stop until about 10pm! In the day, as well as the buffet, there was also the steak house where you could get tacos, burgers, chips etc, or the toastie place and the crepe place was amazing (my daughter had about 6 crepes a day)! I would definitely recommend the steak house for an evening meal- the steak was amazing! Pools and rooms were all spotless and drinks plentiful - from the smoothie bar to any alcohol you could wanted. Great hotel and would absolutely recommend!

Having been lucky enough to have visited a few Caribbean countries and resorts, this one failed to meet so many expectations. It’s not all-inclusive, it’s full-board with drinks from 1130 to 2230. Food options were basic, very basic, ticked most boxes most times, but the options never changed apart from 1-2 dishes. This isn’t even a 3-star never mind 5-star as advertised by TUI. With the exception of one solitary fry cook, every other dish is either hot plate or chilled. Service is painfully slow and you need to check-in for every meal and snack which is logged and recorded- all inclusive?? You are then walked to a table of their choosing (normally all bunched together in a massive space!). Needlessly forced formality simply to control costs. It has the history and potential to be a great place but current management are targeting the local family market and running the place on a shoestring. Raise any sort of complaint and you are advised to ‘upgrade to privilege’ for the standard I’m looking for. This appears to be a lottery depending on who you are and how much they think they can get out of you. Upgrades range from free to £50 per person per night. The only key difference was access to another pool, bar and an a la carte (again, no ‘live’ chef) restaurant which had the same dishes each day, every day. The place basically shuts down between 2230-0600 which is not fun when you’re jet lagged after arriving and wide awake at 3am! No sports bar, no coffee machine, nothing. The pools are filthy, the grounds are beautiful and I just couldn’t shake off the feeling of having been ripped off comparing previous Caribbean holidays, what’s on offer here and how much it cost. We booked through TUI whose Rep is actually not allowed to even enter the hotel! She has a desk at the main entrance of the hotel next door and is restricted to there. That speaks volumes in itself! I’ve seen many on the FB groups defend the place and I’ll probably take some flak but seriously, if you think that’s an acceptable standard of service then, travel more! Entertainment is patchy at best in the evenings (excluding the theatre) and the facilities are simply too small. I counted 17 tables with 4 seats in the main lobby bar - for a hotel with over 400 rooms. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. Really.

Much to my regret, I have to admit that this isn't a 5-star hotel, or at least it doesn't deserve the same rating as other hotels we've stayed at previously. To begin with, the power in some rooms is 110V, which makes it impossible to plug in anything you're carrying, even if you bring an American plug adapter. The rooms are old, the furniture is rickety and doesn't close properly. The mini-fridge only has beer, water, and little else, and it barely cools. The headboards of the beds are loose and continually hit the walls when you move. The sink was broken and the faucet was spinning. The light on the terrace was a dangling bulb. And so on and so forth. I reported some of these issues to room service, but they didn't bother to repair them. The location is very poor. The beaches are worthless due to their dirt and stones. There is no waiter service at the beach. The hotel also doesn't offer money lending services charged to the room or currency exchange. I don't understand this, since most (if not all) of the 5-star hotels we've been to have it. They don't have a luggage-weighing service, and being a hotel with so much international tourism, they should have it (for me, it's a basic). As for the food, I have to say it's not at all worthy of a 5-star hotel. The buffet is very basic food. The themed dinners are the only thing worthwhile, but you have to book well in advance to have dinner (we couldn't dine until the third day after we arrived). Even so, at other hotels we've been to previously, the buffet food is what they offer here for themed dinners. Another thing I've never seen in other hotels in the area is that drinks have categories depending on the guest and the payment. Normally, this doesn't happen at 5-star all-inclusive hotels. And finally, they have a person in the lobby booking excursions, whom we had to file a complaint with because they sold us a fake excursion. As proof of their recognition, after making a complaint, we found a very nice guy who processed a partial refund. The service was excellent, as everyone treated us very well, both at the themed dinners and at the various bars. I'd like to give a huge thank you to Leobardo for making our stay at the pool bars very enjoyable.

We highly recommend the Catalonia Riviera Maya hotel. The hotel is extremely pleasant. The all-inclusive package is fantastic: we really enjoyed the La Brisa restaurant, as well as the various themed restaurants, both for the atmosphere and the food. We also appreciate the friendliness of the entire staff, with a special mention to our two entertainers, Coralia Alexander and Arpayz, who were very attentive and made our stay unforgettable. Thank you all!
