Hotel Luitpold am See

There are only 2 good things about this hotel - the location & the breakfast. We were allocated a room in Building 2. Although Building 1 looks beautiful, Building 2 is clearly it's long-forgotten ugly sister. The building itself looks really shabby from the outside, with a long-disused terrace just left to rot and a fallen down picket fence. There is no reception at Building 2, which we didn't find out until we had walked there from the train stop - only to have to walk back to Building 1. This after a long day's travel and in 30c heat. Finally checked in, trudge back to Building 2. Room on 3rd floor - luckily there was a lift (a bit dirty, as others have said). The room was quite big, but basic & outdated. No aircon & a ceiling fan that felt like it would fall down any second. There were French doors which opened but no balcony (not that we expected one), but the doorway was covered with mesh which had come undone in one corner. The mattress on the bed was not as deep as the frame, which meant when you sat on the bed the frame dug into your legs. There was a chair in the room, upholstered in yellow but covered in very dodgy looking stains. There was bottled water provided in the room - BUT you are charged €2 for drinking it & it doesn't get refilled! (I had already drunk it before I realised we would get charged). We ate in the restaurant on the first evening - when I asked the waiter (in German) whether he spoke English, he said no & pretty much ignored us for the rest of the evening. All in all, for the price we paid we expected much better. We will definitely not return. (PS - we did not know our room was in Building 2 until we checked in)
