Bell Motel

Firstly staff were very friendly and helpful, could not be faulted. Complained that internet was down, moved rooms but problem did not improve. Needed to sit in reception or in yard to check mails etc. Pool was closed but on last day attempts were being made to clean it so possibly will be opened in near future. It is a motel, so for those in a car probably very convenient, but if no car location not ideal as there is a fair walk to shops, Tram etc. All in all a good 11 day stay.

Do NOT stay at this hotel. I will start with the good. It’s a short walk to the tram. Now for the bad. We did not sleep. The room was so noisy. Paper thin walls and reception is not staffed 24/7 so you can’t raise staff after hours. 4 separate rooms were noisy. One above us had kids stomping on floor and crying until 4 am. One person was vacuuming in another room on the early hours of the morning. Someone had TV up full blast throughout the night, and someone banging on the door of the room opposite at 5 am. We approached the Manager in the morning and to her credit she acknowledged the issue straight away with the comment “not again. I’ve told them”. She said it wasn’t the first time people had complained. So the story is, the hotel has new owners and have an arrangement with the State Govt. If any rooms are empty the Govt, the hotel lease them to the homeless, crack-heads, mental health patients, displaced persons etc. it explains the issues we had! On top of that room was filthy. The carpet was stained and there was dust on top of the power points and the air vent was clogged with heavy dust and grime. The toilet roll holder had been snapped off the wall and the wall was poorly patched with gap filler. The toilet brush was caked in toilet paper from previous use. Each side of the bed had one pillow which was like a pancake. TV glitched, the shower took 3 mins to get warm, and we were not supplied face washers. We were offered a refund which we took straight away although they were not willing to refund us for the first night. We did not feel safe there so moved in to Co-Living across the road which was surprisingly cheaper. It was cleaner, more modern, staffed 24/7 and secure. Clearly the new owners of the hotel are more interested about leasing rooms to the dregs of society and at least getting some money for them rather than valuing guests who pay full rate and have the right o be safe. They also clearly are not maintaining the property.

Last stay just recently there was heaps of Dust on the Refrig Air Conditioner. There was also a tapping sound coming from it and it was not turned on. Couldn't Sleep at Night because it was continuous and LOUD. The TV did not work properly glizting in and out of Reception. Got one channel properly . Carpet was filthy and in need of new carpet. Paid $115 for the Night and probably wasn't even worth that. Also plenty of Noises coming from the other units if you know what I mean.

For your own safety, cannot recommend if you are asthmatic or have breathing issues. PowerPoints are a fire hazard. Chewing gum on the side table. Walls are paper thin. Bed sheets were clean. Location is excellent however traffic is noisy but this can’t be helped.

Hotel rooms could do with an upgrade but staff were excellent. Very good for a one night stay.
