We stayed in room 20 which is not in the main pub building. (Possibly the rooms in the pub section are better?) The whole inside & outside is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Room was very dark & not at all welcoming. Probably doesn't help that all the walls are painted in dark blue!. Bed was lumpy. Curtains hanging off the pole. Outside trees protruding through the window. Mould on the wall & ceiling. Restaurant carpet needs replacing as it is filthy & outside area is very unkept with overgrown bushes, weeds & leaves everywhere. Canopys outside have seen better days. The vehicle entrance to carpark is full of potholes & is unlit at nighttime which is not great when that's the way back inside the hotel after a certain time as the pub door near the front is locked. On a positive note the food was nice as were the staff. Wouldn't stay again

£160 for 1 night and 4 star hotel, we expected a decent stay but unfortunately we were left disappointed. The room was so dark you could barely see anything, which may have been a blessing as the carpet felt disgustingly covered in dirt / crumbs 😢 mould on the ceilings and walls of bedroom + mould around bath etc. Bed very squeaky every time you move so bad night sleep. Tv wasn’t turning on.. Woke up and didn’t have any milk in the room for the tea and coffee they leave for you. Pretty disappointed as could have stayed in a premier inn for half the price but opted for this one expecting a better stay.

The hotel is in a perfect part of the country. It is a little tired and we did have a few issues with our room on checking in, we did mention these to Adele who sadly informed us that everyone who stays has issues and nothing can be done about it and everyone complains. We did not hold up much hope for the visit as what chance would we have if the staff openly say it's not great. We eat in the restaurant on our first night and if I'm honest the food was ok, the service from the young lad, I think he was called Eddie was fantastic and he seemed to be doing everything as Adele was clearly dealing with in her words 'more complaints'. We were in the area to visit family and were staying for 3 nights. We were greeted at breakfast by a helpful young girl who was very pleasant, we mentioned the issues with the room and she went away and brought back the hotel manager to speak to us. Liz listened to our issues and apologized for our inconvenience and said if she had a room become available she would be happy to move us. We were grateful for the time she gave us, the surprise we got was when we came back after our day out that Liz had managed to get us another room and had personally moved all our belongings and placed them in the new room ready for us to go straight into. Full marks for the customer service compared to the night before. This place may currently be going through a tough time but with most of the staff being so lovely and helpful it deserves all the support it can get. We will be back.

Just back from an overnight stay here which was a birthday present for a friend. It's a lovely village and The Bridge is located in the middle of it, next to the River Bollin. There was ample parking and on arrival, we were greeted warmly by the member of staff on reception and who also manned the bar and worked in the restaurant. We were in room 8 in the newer part of the pub/hotel which was quite spacious. Two minor improvements we thought would be to add a hairdryer and also a second bedside lamp for reading. This was a twin room but there was only a bedside light for one of the beds which made reading that night quite difficult. The meal in the restaurant last night was excellent and very good choices on the menu. I struggled to decide what I wanted the most! Breakfast this morning (included in our room rate) was of a very high quality with fruit, yoghurts, cereals and pastries as well as the ubiquitous full English breakfast and egg dishes. The staff both for our evening meal and for breakfast were attentive but also fairly unobtrusive. I hope we can return at some point in the future. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Super place by the river with good reasonably priced food available all day. Staff are friendly and helpful. Look forward to going back

My review is more about two exceptional members of staff, Arabella and Austin, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable, as we both arrived feeling under the weather. As well as that, the hotel was beautifully located in a gorgeous village and the rooms and bar were full of character as well as spotlessly clean. Thoroughly recommended.

Brilliant friendly staff and great venue in the heart of the village. We were upgraded to the best room which a great treat. Views from the room were lovely and the room was excellent. Great bed and we both had a good night's sleep.

Stayed 2 nights and found the hotel extremely expensive for what it was. It was not value. That’s bedroom was very dated, scratched furniture, marks on walls buildup of black in areas of bathroom and windows needed replacing. The riverside view was a joke and I must say we had mushy peas served with our breakfast….. different to say the least. On a positive the staff were very friendly and the food was mostly good although menu was limited and we waited ages to be served and between courses. Staff didn’t make sure we had cutlery before serving meals and then they took a while to return with it. We waited 45 minutes for the dessert menu to arrive. The meals were extremely expensive for the service we received. Staff were trying really hard but they appeared to lack leadership and direction. The website is very misleading. I raised my concerns by email to the hotel manager and three weeks later I have had no response. Very disappointed with the entire experience Sent from my iPhone
