Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel

We stayed at this hotel for three nights while visiting friends in Kennebunk. My husband and I were impressed with how helpful everyone was and we loved the location of the hotel...within walking distance to Market Street and all the beautiful shops and restaurants in Portsmouth. Everything was very clean and in great condition and the concierge lounge was always well stocked with snacks and drinks. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Booked two rooms for me and my family. They put us directly above a wedding hall. Walls rumbled with bass drum all night. Could hear everything going on. Asked for different room, but wouldn't provide. Just kept saying sorry and that it would stop soon. . . To little success

I recently stayed at the Sheraton Portsmouth and had a terrible experience. Upon checking into our room we discovered our AC was not functioning (the fan would not turn on), our shower was dirty and had someone else’s bodily hair (looked like public hair) stuck to the floor, there was a yellow liquid that appeared to be urine in the toilet, and the floors in the room were completely filthy and stained my socks. On top of this our room smelled of cigarette smoke and we did not have a “do not disturb/clean” sign. The sheets and mattresses were stained. The shampoo bottles in the shower were moldy and also had hair stuck to them. This is unacceptable. I tried to speak with someone at the front desk however both times the line was extremely long and to the front door…there were only two employees working. Unclear if this was part of the recent outages that mariott experienced as my digital key that should have been issued was also not issued. While waiting I overheard a person in line in front of me being told that no more of our room type were available…As we checked in around 4pm and had plans, I was unable to wait around all day to speak with someone. Since it was only one night we chose to deal with it and not use any of the basic amenities in the room including the shower…and chose to sleep on top of the duvet as to not touch the filthy bed. When I communicated my concerns to mariott they forwarded them to the manager, CJ Shaw. He just spoke with me today and it’s quite unfortunate how he chose to handle the situation. Instead of being accountable for their missteps he chose to double down and blame the customer for not waiting in line and doing more to let management know…bc of course, the point of being on vacation is to spend your time and let hotels know of things they should have caught ahead of time like public hairs and stained sheets in an alleged “clean room”. Additionally when we saw cleaning staff on our floor they were on their phones and ducking between rooms and the hallway all while on their personal cell phones. It’s clear this hotel cares nothing about cleanliness, accountability or its customers and I strongly urge others to not stay here based on my experience.

We were delighted to find this Marriott property was so wonderful. Attentive staff, great concierge lounge, location perfect for walking around Portsmouth without having to move your car. Bright, modern, comfy beds. The first night we noticed the HVAC was particularly loud (compressor problem) but they quickly moved us to another room. The bathroom is well-lit, magnifying mirror, great counter space. All in all, we felt pampered and well-taken care of.

Comfortable room, helpful staff, well located. We had a ‘club level’ room on the 4th floor, which included access to a breakfast room and happy hour snacks in a club room off the lobby; it looks like there was a restricted access 5th floor with more amenities. The conference facilities were ok, but the climate control had people freezing in some rooms and really over-heated in others.

The Lobby was nice and spacious bright with an abundance of windows , but after thanking us at check in for being an Elite Bonboy member they assigned a room to us with a direct view of the sand/salt heap across the street and broken seals on both windows ( foggy glass). The foggy glass at least made it difficult to see the ginormous heap. We tried to open the windows thinking this would improve our experience with fresh salt air , however the windows are bolted Shut.

Very well situated in heart of all the activities. Some nice views overlooking the harbor. Rooms a bit outdated but very clean. The service is top notch from check in to bar, to valet to club lounge to bar staff all very accommodating and friendly. Only drawback is the valet fee of $35, otherwise top notch, parking in town is limited so best to have valet since service is great and you will be walking for most activities. Lyft is around $3-6 for any restaurants as well.

Stayed in Portsmouth overnight for a concert. Had the nicest stay here. By far the best of any hotel on a while. Room was immaculate, with vinyl flooring instead of carpet. Yes, please! Highly recommend and we've got our go to for Portsmouth!

Room was excellent freshly upgraded. Breakfast was spot on. Parking at the hotel is good. And you’re only steps away from great shops and restaurants. Staff was very accommodating and helpful. We stayed for one night and would have stayed longer if time had permitted.
