The resort must have great marketing because what we read was not what we got. The positives: the resort is gorgeous and the rooms are beautifully done. The pool area, while small, is nice and the beach, again small, is lovely. Negatives: Firstly, the food is insanely expensive and sub par. We ordered dinner a few nights and it was pretty bad—lobster ravioli was yuck, shrimp cocktail was not, in fact, a shrimp cocktail but instead, sautéed prawns. Mahi, lamb and steak was dry, sides (veggies) were either over or under cooked. Lunch was marginally better, but again, for the cost it was not great. Breakfast, cooked in our room (which they advertised but they actually got rid of doing until we made a big deal of the fact that was what we expected because that was the situation when we booked), was okay but… The staff…! So the hostess in one of the villas (we had two in total) was downright surly. She couldn’t have acted more like every request was a burden. (The hostess for our villa was a bit better but often didn’t respond the WhatsApp’s we sent…on their weird phone service, where you’re stuck having to schlep your own and the villa’s around). The concierge desk was helpful, ish. But often it seemed EVERY request came with a sigh. They acted as if we were a burden when we requested info on organized trips, and if we pressed for more details it was met almost with resentment. The logistics also were a joke…constantly having to call for a cart (the hills were a killer), sometimes they didn’t even show. And our villa was far from the other villa, with 70 steps up. I have bad knees, so I ended up taking everything with me at the start of the day so I didn’t schlep back up more than once a day. And unless there aren’t a lot of good restaurants in Portsmouth, they didn’t recommend very good spots off the resort to eat. One place they sent us to was inedible. Oh, and the cart drivers go way too fast, taking turns at breakneck speed. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. Not worth the hype…!!! to was
