Fernhill Hotel

If you could give 3 1/2 stars that would be my true rating solely based on standard of the room . We were in room 46 which is a magnificent large room with stunning sea views but it is totally let down by the standard of furnishings . It reminded me of an old folks care home which for the price you pay is not great . I’ve attached pictures of various issues although it pains me to do so as we loved our stay at the hotel . Firstly I do not agree with the not servicing rooms to save the environment although more and more hotels are doing this , tbf to them I put my card on door saying I wanted room serviced and this was done while we were out . This hotel could be so much more , bathroom refurb , mini fridge in room , fresh decor and furnishing and it would be up there with the best . Now for the positives , the communal areas are all lovely and very fresh looking, the staff are amazing and a true credit to the hotel , nothing was too much trouble for them and everything was done with a smile , we had dinner our first night and the food and service were very good . Breakfast was also delicious with a good choice of both hot and cold options and again the waiting staff were lovely and very attentive . I would’ve liked black pudding with my breakfast but that’s a personal choice . To sum up I would stay here again if I visit portpatrick mainly because of the staff and spectacular views from the room but hopefully the rooms get the tlc they need and deserve by then .

Lovely place. Food delicious, staff friendly and helpful. Comfy and clean rooms, what else do you need. Spent 2 nights here in the annex rooms, bonus having the conservatory to our selves. would highly recommend the hotel. We will most definitely be back again

Stunning position above the town with views over the North Channel. A homely hotel with cozy public areas and generous comfortable furnishings. Bedrooms have all the fixtures and fittings one would expect. Cooked breakfast and evening meals are prepared to order and good quality. Meals are a tad pricey however, with main courses in the mid £20s, so customers on a "DBB deal" will find they have to spend significantly extra, or settle for basic fayre. The setting, the premises, and the staff, make it an enjoyable stay.

We had a great weekend here before getting the ferry to Ireland. The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. The food was great and drinks reasonably priced compared to other hotels we have recently visited. Our room was large and had a lovely view over the town which was also easy to access from the hotel. Overall a very pleasant experience.

I stayed here overnight with my husband. Good points: Super location overlooking the town Staff very pleasant and attentive Good breakfast,freshly cooked,along with decent coffee machine,and selection of fruits,cereals,compote Not so good: We had twin room in annexe- very tired decor.Bed was so soft,as to be uncomfortable.Shower over bath with a. an old fashioned shower curtain. I thought food in restaurant was overpriced.My husband’s main of lamb shank was good,my salmon dish was poor- small overlooked fillet,two overdone hassleback potatoes,and meagre veg. Weather was lovely,so enjoyed our stay,but glad that we had secured a good offer with a £40 voucher towards dinner.We would probably not stay here if we return to Portpatrick.

What a fabulous stay in this wonderful hotel. Food amazing, staff - shout out to Adam and Marty - were brilliant. Room spotless, and the views are outstanding. We had a superior room with a verandah and it's been the best break for ages. Menu choices suit all diets and they were so flexible in adapting menu to meet dietary requirements

Excellent recent stay . We visited Portpatrick a few weeks ago and stayed at the Fernhill hotel for the first time . We had our dogs with us and could not have been happier. We had a lovely spacious room next to the gardens with a view of the harbour . The staff in the hotel were all lovely and could not be more welcoming or helpful. The hotel staff are completely relaxed about the dogs which makes a huge difference with the restaurant being the only place the dogs aren’t allowed- totally understandable and acceptable . Staff were happy to accommodate us with the dogs at a table in the bar area which was lovely . Will definitely be back and for a longer stay . Thank you

Lovely little find. We stayed in the junior suite which was beautiful, amazing views and very clean. All of the staff were so lovely and attentive. Could not fault anything about our stay. We also had evening meals which were really nice, well made and well presented. Thank you !
