My stay at Hotel Maison Bleu was frustrating, to say the least. From the beginning, it was clear that the experience would not correspond to what is expected from a hotel that calls itself 5 stars. The first big problem was the lack of information about private parking being under maintenance. When we arrived, I had to contact the hotel to tell me where the parking entrance would be and I was told that there would be no possibility as it was undergoing maintenance. As a result, we had to leave the car completely exposed on the street, which is not only inconvenient, but also unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed standard. This lack of transparency was the first sign of carelessness. I am also a hotel and restaurant employee and when something like this happens, the first thing to do is inform your customers and guests about the inconvenience. No matter what, room service was available. How is this possible? Another point that made the experience even more unpleasant was the complete absence of Wi-Fi and network. We didn't have access to TV, and the few moments when the connection appeared, it dropped almost immediately. When we approached reception about this issue, the response was basically that they couldn't do anything. This lack of proactivity and inability to resolve basic issues was disappointing. We realize that of chains, only the company responsible can comment on this but I apologize, how can a hotel, I repeat, 5 stars, have errors of this type since the beginning of the day? New Year's Eve, I understand, but technical support is obligated to solve your problem in any way or else, the hotel has to develop a plan to make its guests comfortable with the situation. Do we really need to talk about consumer rights? I don't think so, because the hotel is 5 stars, or better, they say it is. Furthermore, if the hotel's location is an important factor for your stay, be aware that it is not practical for those who want to explore the center of Porto. The walk there is long and can be tiring, especially if the objective is to enjoy the festivities or the most popular tourist attractions. The only positive aspect was the design of the room and bathroom, which are well decorated and offer amenities such as towels, bathrobes, slippers and a hairdryer. However, this is the least that can be expected from a high-end hotel. Am I right? I'm not an expert on 5-star hotels, but as someone who travels frequently – and especially to Porto during New Year's Eve – I say with conviction that this experience doesn't come close to justifying the five stars that the hotel boasts. In my opinion, the experience was not worthy of more than 3 stars. I've been to hotels with fewer stars and the comfort was impeccable. The breakfast was well served and tasty, worth mentioning.
