My wife and I were going to a concert at the Coliseu in Porto and wanted to stay in town and make a night of it. We weren't aware of this place, but the photos looked really good, so..... We loved it! We had the attic room that has a bath in it in an open, semi-divided space which is kind of like a wet room in your bedroom - very cool! - there's a really good shower too and separate toilet. It's very tastefully renovated and furnished (zero Ikea trash) The lighting and lamps give you plenty of cosy mood lighting combinations, the view is across rooftops and that part of the city and the height and double glazing means it's nice and quiet. The bed is firm - as we like it - and everything is spotlessly clean. Reception is attended 24/7 and we were welcomed with a complementary glass of wine delivered to the room. Staff very friendly and spoke good English and - obviously - Portuguese. This was January and we paid about 100€ which is an out-of-season rate. This room would cost a fair bit more in the summer. There is a restaurant attached at ground level which is open to the public, which is were we ate breakfast which was included. The breakfast is AMAZING!! You can order as many things as you like and it's all freshly made to order and good quality. We were so happy with the breakfast we tipped the servers 5€ We would definitely go back there and unreservedly recommend Prim and Proper to anyone wanting a quality stay in Porto. Check out the photos, they're 100% accurate and show the place in an honest light.
