Colonna Resort, a Colonna Luxury Beach Hotel, Porto Cervo

I genuinely don’t understand how this hotel is rated 5 stars. My stay was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable from start to finish. • Reception staff: The only decent part of the experience. They were polite and respectful. • Other staff: unprofessional. They made fun of me for my race just because i dropped a plate and they thought i didn’t hear them they didn’t make this experience good at all. • Cleanliness: Housekeeping is a joke. Rooms are barely cleaned — just quick surface work, nothing thorough. • Privacy violation: This was the most shocking part. Housekeeping would knock once and immediately enter the room without waiting. One staff member walked in while I was changing clothes — no apologies, no shame. It’s unacceptable and shows complete disregard for guest privacy. • Noise: Rooms have zero soundproofing. You can hear everything happening in the hallways and neighboring rooms. • Basic amenities: No complimentary bottled water provided — you have to pay for even the most basic necessities. • Breakfast: Very limited options and poor quality. Doesn’t match the expectations of a 5-star hotel at all. • Star rating: Honestly, this hotel shouldn’t even be 2 stars. One star is generous for the experience I had. 🔹 Only positive: The air conditioning worked well. I absolutely do NOT recommend this hotel. It was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

Very overrated and nowhere near a 5 star hotel. We checked in today and one immediately had the feeling of being rather a disturbance than a welcomed guest. The rooms are tiny and very dark with furniture from ancient days. The food at the restaurant near the pool is mediocre. In the room you will find a coffee machine but god forgive you ask for coffee milk. The will make a scene and once they bring you the milk, they will charge you 15€ for it… not for the milk, but the “service”. Ridiculous since they should have coffee milk and even more ridiculous wanting to charge this insane fee. One positive: the pool area with multiple pools is spacious and has a beautiful view. Overall, very overrated and clearly not worth the money. Stay somewhere else. We will not be back here. Maier Dom

I gave this a lot of thought before writing, as I don’t enjoy leaving negative reviews. But for anyone considering this hotel based on its 5-star rating, I feel compelled to share our experience. Unfortunately, it fell far below expectations—especially at $1500 per night. I’m giving two stars instead of one solely because the beach is beautiful. Beyond that, it was a disappointing stay. When we first walked into our room, we were hit with an overwhelming smell of bleach. While cleanliness is important, the intensity was off-putting. I don’t have allergies, yet I was sneezing nonstop in the room during our entire four-day stay. While some staff members were kind and welcoming, others were so rude it truly soured the experience. One particular incident stood out: breakfast was included in our stay, and on the morning of a scheduled boat tour, I went downstairs at 8 AM to grab two hard-boiled eggs, a croissant, and some yogurt to take with us. I was immediately scolded by two staff members with aggressive hand gestures and told I wasn’t allowed to take anything “to go.” They were visibly annoyed that I hadn’t called a day prior to request a takeaway breakfast—even though I was simply grabbing a small, included portion. I felt like I was being treated as if I were stealing food. Additionally, when we arrived at the hotel at 6 PM after a long travel day, every restaurant was closed until 8 PM. We reluctantly ordered room service, but the order came completely wrong—and at that point, we were too hungry to deal with correcting it. All in all, this hotel is not what it’s made out to be in the glowing reviews. The service is inconsistent, the hospitality lacking, and for the price, it simply doesn’t deliver. I hope this helps others make a more informed decision.
