Found Cambria based on reviews of local hotels in Portland. We stayed at Cambria in Portland for an evening and had a great stay. The hotel is relatively new and the rooms reflect this, with modern decor, clean amenities and up to date fixtures. room size isn’t huge, but it’s roomy for two people without feeling cramped. The location is fantastic. Walkable to many restaurants, bars and outdoor activities such as bicycle rentals. Quiet at night and not difficult to get to both by car and by foot. The staff is accommodating and willing to help make the stay comfortable and convenient. Touching on a few points to consider, however. 1. Hidden fees. There is both an amenity fee ($25 charged that can be used towards the in-house bar, restaurant or snack stand [obviously overpriced for the latter]) and an occupancy tax ON TOP of the accommodation charge and tax, which is based on how full the hotel is that evening. It is understandable that, given its location in a touristy area, there will be an upcharge; it’s just a little tilting to not know about it before. 2. Parking. An extra fee for the attached parking deck. As mentioned, it is a touristy area so this is to be expected. Convenient as it’s right on the hotel, just expect this in addition to the other fees. Overall, we had a positive experience with our stay and will certainly be back here. The staff’s attentiveness and quality of rooms is enough to overlook the annoyance of the attached fees. Solid 4.75/5
