We recently stayed at Bela Vista Hotel & Spa and found many aspects to love. The food and staff were truly five-star—attentive, professional, and warm. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring high-quality bedding, a beautifully restored main house, and a stunning pool area. Cocktail and wine prices were reasonable, and the overall dining experience was among the finest we’ve experienced. That said, several factors offset these positives: - Housekeeping carts left in hallways looked untidy. - The gym and fitness area felt worn; yoga mats were too small. - The pool deck showed signs of wear. - At 6 pm, the beautifully appointed indoor bar was unmanned—guests were redirected to the outdoor pool bar, with no complimentary snacks offered. - Room amenities like the corkscrew, glassware, and snacks felt basic and underwhelming. - The décor in outlying rooms (Garden House) didn’t reflect true five-star luxury. Most notably, we felt misled by the online portrayal of the hotel's surroundings. The images suggest a secluded cliffside retreat, yet the immediate area is busy and dominated by low-quality tourist buildings. This constant visual and noise intrusion detracted from the experience. Many echo this sentiment in reviews: “street noise and the disappointing immediate surroundings pop up in the complaints”. For the premium price, the setting and some amenities did not align with expectations for a five‑star property. Perhaps hedging landscaping or reorienting the pool to face the ocean could help, but until the hotel addresses some of the issues, we don’t plan to return. Bela Vista could truly be a flawless stay... and we wish you all the best.
