Hotel Bendinat in Mallorca is one of those rare gems that feels like a home away from home. Having stayed here multiple times over the years, I can confidently say that it offers a perfect blend of understated luxury, Mediterranean charm, and tranquility. The location is simply unbeatable—perched right on the coastline, with stunning views of the turquoise waters of the Bay of Palma. Waking up to the sound of the waves and having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea is something I look forward to every time I visit. The hotel’s lush gardens, with their towering palm trees and cozy lounge areas, create an atmosphere of total relaxation. The rooms are elegantly designed in a classic Mediterranean style, with whitewashed walls, wooden accents, and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Many of them come with private terraces, perfect for unwinding with a glass of wine in the evening. While the décor is timeless, the hotel has managed to maintain a fresh and well-kept feel over the years. One of the highlights of every stay is dining at Las Terrazas de Bendinat, the hotel’s restaurant. Sitting right by the sea, it offers some of the best seafood dishes on the island. Their paella and grilled fish are a must-try, and the service is always warm and attentive. There’s nothing quite like enjoying a long, leisurely lunch with a view of the shimmering water. I love this location and the staff are so warm and friendly however something has changed and the standard has slipped. Our room 801 was perfect and was of ample size and quality. The cleaners are very thorough and do a great job. The hotel is not cheap so I expect high standards. The pool bar is expensive and almost all of our time here has had one staff member, completely overwhelmed, and everything seems to take ages to come and when it does it’s not great! The breakfast team are lovely people, especially the lady who greets me everyday. But the food in general is poor (apart from fruit and fruit drinks), no one at this hotel knows how to cook an egg. Every cooked breakfast is unseasoned, unloved and it’s beyond me that this kitchen does not know how to cook scrambled eggs…. The produce for cooked breakfast is very low quality. The restaurant is very busy however I have noticed a drop in standards here also when tasting the food. The produce is lower quality and the food seems rushed and a little less high end dining as in previous years. The competition in the area has improved massively and if Hotel Bendinat is to keep its customers they need more staff, better produce and a little more care and attention so that the amazing staff can perform to the standards guests are used too and should expect for the price. I heard new owners have taken over, maybe they should take some time with the team to taste the cooked breakfast especially the eggs, sausage and bacon (very greasy)

This hotel has a caché and elegance. It has a gorgeous prime setting overlooking the sea - but it has seen better times insofar as the whole offering has been cut back. This is particularly disappointing as the hotel is far more expensive than other hotels aspiring to a similar standard. The restaurant - has a limited menu compared to earlier years and if you’re eating in for more than a few nights you might struggle to find variety. Food is well prepared and presented. A huge fuss was made when we asked at the start of a meal if our bill could be split into our 3 rooms (as though we were dining independently) - apparently the computer system would not accommodate this! The Pool Bar - has a very limited menu, serves small portions, has painfully slow service and is expensive with only one member of staff in attendance. Breakfast - has a very limited selection. Even the choice of two jam flavours did not vary in one week. Unrefrigerated and unmarked cold meats looked grey and unappetising. Dishes often sat empty and unreplenished due to lack of staff and attention. Luis was the only manager we encountered during our 7 night stay and he was charming and helpful. Room (suite) 606 is excellent - spacious, and comfortable - but a constant fairly loud sound of water running from above is apparently built in to the design - so bring ear plugs! Our room was rarely serviced before 2:30pm. The provision of bathroom amenities and towels was inconsistent and we had to ask for missing items. The shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are set out of reach if you’re in the bath and no bar of soap was provided. The shower had awful pressure and the temperature varied constantly. Garden - the sun beds are extremely uncomfortable with no cushions.

If you want a high class dinner in stunning surroundings then it’s the Terrace at the Hotel Bendinat. Superb food - Gazpacho, Sea Bass cooked in Salt, and Crème Brûlée which melts in the mouth. The service is exquisite and the view of the Mediterranean stunning. Highly recommended.
