Villa Anakao Mauritius

We stayed at Villa Anakao in Port Louis for three nights while attending a wedding. It served its purpose well as a budget-friendly place to rest our heads, though we didn’t spend much time there. Service: The standout feature of our stay. The staff were wonderful—polite, attentive, and always ready to help. We really appreciated the warm and welcoming atmosphere they created. Food: A pleasant surprise. Breakfast was included and exceeded our expectations—especially the pancakes and perfectly cooked bacon. For lunch, we had both the Caesar and grilled vegetable salads. The grilled vegetable salad, in particular, was absolutely delicious and highly recommended. It was also by far the cheapest meal we had during our two-week trip, making it excellent value for money. Setting: This is where the experience could be improved. While the hotel is described as a traditional Mauritian stay, it felt more like a hostel in terms of decor and amenities. We stayed in a sea view room; the bed was comfortable, but the room felt dated and lacked decent lighting—we often had to use our phone torches just to see properly. Getting ready in the main room wasn’t really an option due to the poor lighting, so the bathroom was the only viable space. In contrast, our friends stayed in the "romantic room," which had been clearly renovated and felt much more modern and inviting. If more rooms were upgraded to that standard, it would significantly elevate the overall guest experience. Overall: Villa Anakao was exactly what we needed—a simple, affordable base during a busy weekend. While the accommodation could benefit from some updates, the excellent service and surprisingly good food make it a solid choice for budget-conscious travellers. With a few improvements, this could be a standout Mauritian bed & breakfast.

Great hotel with lovely staff in all areas. I stayed in the shack at the water's edge which was idyllic, lovely evenings spent just lying back listening to the waves lapping against the shore under my balcony. Don't press the button at the bathroom door, that's the alarm and it's very loud! Great bus service on line 51 (my favourite football scoreline) and you just have to get on for an exciting trip to Port Louis. Be prepared for the drivers to test the brakes at every stop! Mauritius is a great place for a holiday, don't stay in your all inclusive resorts and get out and enjoy it. Really friendly people.

Amazing It was amazing. Made me feel at home! Love every staff, they were all very helpful! Love the food, had dinner four times at their restaurant, every meal was good ! Also reasonably priced!
