Delicious food in a lovely building. My sea bass on crushed potatoes was amazing, and my partner's fish and chips dish was very tasty. The fish in both cases were melt in the mouth, and apparently, the batter on his fish was lovely and crispy. His homemade mushy peas and tartar sauce were perfect. Fully recommend. Oh, and make sure you use the toilets as the decor is very quirky.

So myself and a friend had booked a table there as a treat for working the last 6 months on a Covid unit. We had arrived a little early so had parked in the car park and took a little walk to the beach- and this is what followed... Me and my friend were followed to the beach and aggressively approached by a man who behaved intimidatingly; there was no hello or any explanation apart from 'get your car off my car park, its private property. This was no problem to us, so we went back to the car park to move the car where I tried to explain to this so-called 'manager's that we had booked a table at the restaurant. This was when he began raising his voice at us and told me to 'at least speak in English'due to the fact that I don't have an english accent. He then carried on raising his voice completely ignoring anything we had to say. He told us to 'just leave'as he ran back into the restaurant, so we did. About 30 minutes later, I phoned to make a complaint whereby the lady on the phone made no attempt of an apology but said it was 'probably because you didn't park withing the white lines'. Maybe then would gave been a good time to say that my friend used to work as a driving instructor ! Given the state of the economy- we're embarrassed for them.

Where do I begin? We booked this hotel for two nights as part of a tour around Cornwall. We arrived at about 7pm and first impressions of the exterior of the hotel should have set alarm bells ringing. I discovered that the reception in the hotel was also the public bar where I had to stand waiting for 20 minutes to be attended to. When we eventually got to our bedroom, we couldn't believe what we saw. The room was dirty, scruffy and wasn't even good enough to house dogs which I know the hotel do offer. The window was broken so we couldn't even open it to let some fresh air in. The bedding looked as though someone else had slept in it before us (mascara on the pillowcase amongst other things)and the bathroom was an utter disgrace with shoddy tiling and filthy bath and sink. An altogether terrible experience which completely spoilt our time in Port Issac. Old School Hotel, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I don't understand the good reviews here! Had the worst night sleep ever! Creaky metal bed, curtains that are no match for the incredibly bright street light esq lamp right outside the room, windows that we couldnt open (sealed shut), strange atmosphere in room, other guests we could hear talking. Never again! Read the review from the elderly couple who asked for help with their bags. That just about sums it up!

We had a wonderful time staying at the Old School Hotel in Port Isaac. We were in the Art room which was spacious and had a a shared deck with a view of the sea. The staff were all very friendly and worked hard - they were stretched however, so important not to stress too much about speedy service. We would thoroughly recommend.

The customer ‘care’ , ‘care’ being very loosely put is absolutely awful in this place. There is no compassion or sensitivity to meet customers needs . Front of house and management are by far the worse I’ve encountered. There is no flexibility in their approach to service , they take your money and run. So read this and run to the next available hotel. Reading the review about an elderly couple having to drag the case up by themselves and being ignore is about as far as their service goes.
