A&A Guesthouse

I feel humble with the service standard of A&A Guesthouse. As we were the sisters in law, some of them were from other provinces but they were so impressed with everything. Cleanliness is 100%. I take my hat off to your cleaners, they are doing great job. Keep up the good. If the room with 4 bunk can have a window for the ventilation and it is too small and very hot.

Everything is very good. Beautiful hotel. Decent level. Heated pool! A stunning ocean view! Very diverse breakfast 5****** must have a dress and slippers to visit the spa. It's very strange that they're not there.

We have stayed here many time because it is a beautiful building in an excellent location. The general staff are outstanding and the food and rooms are amazing. Unfortunately the front desk is just not the same as the rest of the experience. When I wrote in to ask for an early check in I got no reply- on my arrival I asked about this and was told because I got no reply that means it’s fine. I find this odd as I explained that we were arriving after a three part flight over 18 hours. We have stayed here at least 3 other times and my comment for each time would be pretty much the same - I feel the front desk could do better to Mach their rest of the experience.

Fine hotel with great sea view. Dinner was good and service fine. Room was ok but might be a bit hard to get up stairs for some. Maybe there was a lift but did not find it. Pool was nice but obviously too cold in July. Conference room was ok and all in all a good stay

From the start, the hotel was disorganized. We arrived only to be told we will not get one room (out of 4 rooms) as they were overbooked and yet we had paid for the room. Manager offered no form of compensation and it took them 2 days to figure out the way forward and process a refund. Hotel was short staffed - gentleman serving in the bar, was also the porter & waiter. Restaurant service was appalling. Took the kitchen 2 hours to prepare breakfast! Their excuse was they were a full hotel (11 rooms only!!) and that we had already been served the fruit granola bowl so that should have kept us going whilst he was still preparing other meals!!! Only one waitress serving 2 tables but she was full of attitude as well. Receptionist thought she was above everyone… stood in the lobby and gossiped about us openly to a friend & yet she’s the same person asking us to keep our volumes low because there were other guests on the ground floor getting disturbed (note: we were not even talking when she made this comment and a few minutes later hotel staff dropped something right outside the guests’ room and they were laughing about it!!) she was outright full of attitude thinking this was our first time in a hotel! Kitchen ran out of breakfast for us the day we were checking out. They couldn’t cope with the pressure and told us they wouldn’t be able to make us anything apart from croissants and fruit bowls (but 2 fruit bowls later we were told there was no more!!) Whatever we requested for, took over an hour for the hotel to organise and only to be told again that they’ve run out of the items.. eg shower caps!! Safe was not working in the room, manager couldn’t figure out what the issue was and said maintenance would come next morning to fix it but never showed up. Promised us free laundry only to be told the next morning washing machine is tripping We could hear everything in the next room - whether in the room or bathroom every conversation and sound could be heard. A family was having a party in the room next to ours until 1.30 am, we tried calling reception no answer!! They had closed off for the day 🧐 What was even worse was the couple next door indulging in a night of sex therapy - they could be heard screaming for over half an hour!!! I would never recommend this hotel and would never return back, there’s definitely better properties out there to go to. Only positive thing was the room and bathroom were spacious & it’s a new property so everything was still new. Housekeeping only had 2 staff working whilst we were there… If it’s a busy period for the hotel, surely they can engage more staff to cope with customer needs??? Never seen such slow service in any hotel!! Disgusted and it’s left a horrendous taste in our mouths. Glad to be out of that place after 2 loooooong nights!!

First of all, when you walk into this hotel, it's absolutely breathtaking. Service - You are greeted with a friendly and professional receptionist. I am happy with the service that we received... BUT the after hour receptionist is completely rude and never at the desk. I'm hoping that management will make a replacement. I've had my fair share of visiting hotels and there should always be someone at the front desk. This person should have a good and professional attitude. Instead the man who I called to the front desk was clearly tired and irritable. Rooms - Elevator, television, wifi, a large bathroom, excellent water pressure, soap etc is provided, extremely clean, comfortable bed, large vanity and a massive air conditioner. The rooms are smaller than what we are used to but it's cozy. Load shedding - So unfortunately the air conditioner switches off during load shedding. During this time we were suffering from the unbearable heat. I'm hoping the hotel will upgrade to larger generators. View - Quite a small window, you cannot see the view from your bed which is dissapointing considering we paid extra for an ocean view. Price - R 1450 for a beach view bedroom My opinion... Is it worth it? That would depend on your budget. I usually stay at the Courtyard Hotel which has a balcony, gym, impeccable 24hr service and massive rooms. They charge R1990 per night. If that's what you can afford then I reccomend Courtyard hotel. Town lodge is excellent for a budget price.
