Location: About two miles east of downtown. Within walking distance of one restaurant. Within easy driving distance of others. Hotel: First class. Nicely decorated large lobby. Outdoor pool and hot tub. Large fitness room with two ellipticals, two treadmills, free weights. No stationery bike. Floor mat could be thicker. Internet adequate at about 9 Mbps download. Slow to make connection. Room: Good size. Good mattress. Two bathroom sinks. Good view of pool and golf course. Staff: Friendly, professional, helpful. Breakfast: Continental only but well stocked. Price: On the high side at around $450 per night.

My son and I stayed at Olympic Lodge by Ayers in Port Angeles for one night only, as part of our visit to Olympic National Park. Port Angeles is the most convenient stop between Seattle and our next stop (Forks). The exterior appearance is very appealing, and so is the interior lobby with high ceiling, huge windows, and super comfy sofas and couches. Staff is friendly and gave us excellent recommendations for dinner. Our double room was upstairs at the end of the hallway, facing the parking lot. Since the hotel is set back from the main road, it is very quiet yet convenient for the highway. Our room is spacious, with a desk, 3 (!) chairs, plus a round table. It is rare hotel rooms have more than 1 chair to sit on these days. There is also a mini-fridge in room. We were mostly out sightseeing so we didn't use the pool. There is also exercise room and laundry room on site. We did relax in the lobby in the evening to soak in the ambience. Breakfast room is bright and airy. The 2 breakfast room attendants are amazing! They are on top of everything, keeping the space spotless and refilling foods. But as others said, the selection is a bit disappointing; mostly starch options. Protein options include plain yogurt and hard boiled egg. This is definitely the higher end of places to stay in PA, and I was glad we stayed here before we continued on to stay at other less fancy establishments in the park.

Let me start this by saying the hotel is perfectly adequate… The staff is lovely, the room is nice and it is definitely the nicest hotel in Port Angeles. My problem is the price at $420 (after taxes) a night. I can stay at the Fairmont in Seattle or Whistler (or many other hotels at this price point ) for the same price and get many more amenities and service. There’s nothing special with the linens or beds, nor the few little toiletries they provide, nothing special with “the grounds”, and definitely not the breakfast. I would equate this stay to being at a Holiday Inn express. The Holiday Inn express, however, has a better breakfast because they include hot items and proteins. The breakfast at the Olympic Lodge is all pastries and breads. The pastries are simple, mass produced items for hotels, obviously, and just removed from packaging. There are two hot items available which are a waffle machine and hot oatmeal. The only protein offered really is hard boiled eggs. The pool and hot tub area look fine but nothing special. The hot tub hasn’t worked for a while it seems from the reviews I’ve read. It still wasn’t working when we were here. Many reviews mention how beautiful the grounds are. There aren’t any real grounds here. It backs up to a golf course, which is nice to look at, and there is a little fountain on what I would call a walkway the size of walking between my garage and a fence. Again, nothing special. So yes, it might be one of the nicer hotels near the park. That’s probably why most people stay here. I just wanted to leave an honest review so you know what you’re getting for your money. At this price point, you expect more in service services and amenities. I would not stay here again unless the price is cut in half. I don’t understand all the reviews on this place being so amazing. I wonder if they are paid reviews? Like I said, it’s perfectly adequate, but nothing special.

My family enjoyed our stay at Olympic Lodge. My children were big fans of the heated pool and afternoon cookies. We chose this place for the location- it was close to several spots we wanted to check out like Lake Cresent and Hurricane Ridge. The shuttle service to downtown was convenient. This definitely seemed like the nicest hotel in the area.

The property is really lovely and well taken care of. Nice landscaping as it backs up to a golf course, and the pool is outdoors, but heated. Breakfast had a ton of options and everything we tried was tasty. Staff was very professional throughout our stay and helpful. When we needed something for the room, it was handled immediately and professionally. Conveniently located to both the town and to Olympic National Park. Would absolutely stay here again when in the area.

The 4.4/5 rating is fair and accurate (meaning that in a good way). Rather than repeat the previously-noted good qualities, I thought I would address concerns seen down thread. 1. NOT in the park despite the name (the location outside the park is disclosed, but apparently has been missed by some guests). But very close to the gate and not far from a number of in-park hikes and featured location. SOme of the things you will want to do may be closer than a park lodge. 2. Mostly done in earth tones and brown. But that reminds you, intentional or not, of many of the grander National Park Lodges we have stayed in. Soaring two story lobby, with a wood-burning fireplace, and leather overstuffed seating. 3. Breakfast is continental, but I would say enhanced continental. The starch selection was considerably wider than just loaf bread, and included waffle machines, hard-boiled eggs, muffins, juice, a good tea selection, frozen cut fruit, and whole fruit. We were early in the season, but the room was actively attended and replenished. 4. The one concern I would agree with is that the first-story walk-out rooms don't have much room to walk out to. Book those if having your own door to the outside is important to you, but it is little more than fast access to the outside with a couple of chairs. Not a private patio, and personally I would rather be up in the hotel anyway. I would rebook in a minute if I headed back that way.
