Quinta Das Figueirinhas & Quintinha Village

Came here for a week with my 3 boys, 17, 15 & 12. Apartments are clean & spacious. 1 bedroom with 2 single beds & then in the sitting room a single sofa bed with a pull out bed underneath. The teenagers were happy sleeping in the sitting room. Air conditioning in the apartment & a small kitchen with a decent amount of plates, glasses & utensils. We had breakfast & lunch in the apartment each day & went out for dinner at night. The local supermarket is a 15 minute walk away. Quite expensive, but cheaper than having 3 meals out a day. Washing machines also available at the supermarket. We used them twice & dried our clothes outside back at the apartment. Very clean, large pool area with plenty of sun loungers. No one putting towels out at ridiculous times & not showing up till the afternoon which was great! Lots of shaded areas around the pool, but also you have an umbrella in your room which you can use on your terrace/patio or at the pool which is great. There is 1 beach down the hill following the main road, Praia de Nossa Senhora da Rocha, around a 15/20 minute walk away (you can also access Praia Nova through an amazing tunnel which is a much larger beach from here) or alternatively there is a much smaller/quieter beach Praia Do Barranco similar distance down a dirt track to the right of the main road. Both beaches have quite a steep walk coming back. Lots of restaurants within 10-15 minutes walk away including Tasca 26, Vilarinho (cash only) on the beach & White Shell Beach Villas has an amazing restaurant. There is also a restaurant/bar at the apartments which we had lunch in the first day we arrived. 40 minutes from the airport (we used Sunline transfers). Great company who we’ve used on a previous visit & 55 Euro both ways. If you’re looking for a budget friendly holiday this is a great choice.

We stay there now for 15 years, not for a week or so but for one or more months per year, i think it says enough. OK it is old now but in October its close for renovation, they will inform us when and how per mail. Restaurant is closed but the canteen takes over, terras bigger but menu smaller (more KFC or so). Reception, Housekeeping, Gardeners all friendly and helpful. Severaltimes per week cleaning, bath linen, bed making per apartment. Swimming Pool excelent with saltwater. Guests 1. english, 2. portuguese, 3. spanish, 4. a lost dutch and german.

Just back from a week here and was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. It was a lovely site and surprisingly quiet for whit week. Plenty of sun beds, massive pool and a lovely coffee shop serving nice food. 15 minutes from nearest supermarket, plenty of lovely restaurants including an India and tasca 26. 25 minute walk into the busier armcao de pera which is it a bit busier and has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. The beaches within 15 minutes were also amazing especially senhora de rocha with white chapel and tunnel in the cliff. We got a great deal on price with jet2 and free kids place which is why I couldn’t fault a single thing for the price we paid. I would definitely go back here.

The resort was just perfect, not least of all because it was very quiet and given the time we were there was in school term time, we had hoped it might be. The cost was very good and being honest we were prepared to be met with a middle of the road, but much needed break. Is the accommodation slightly dated as I've read a few time on here? Perhaps, but not overly. We stayed in one of the villas near the smaller pool and as a family of 5 it was just about big enough, given the small amount of time we actually spent in the villa. The whole place was immaculately clean and the staff could not do enough for you, everyone was very friendly and helpful at every turn. Pool areas and gardens are all perfectly kept and maintained and set in beautiful surroundings. Beaches and shops / restaurants were within 15 minutes walk and despite being in a quieter area, there was no shortage of options even outside of peak season. Food in the resort itself was good and the service was great. Drinks prices etc were reasonable and the selection was really good. Will definitely be going back!
