This was our first trip to Sao miguel and weren’t sure where to stay. We decided to stay at the Hotel Marina because of the reviews and it did not disappoint! It was a beautiful upscale hotel, the staff was very friendly and helpfull! The rooms were spacious and had a fresh 1 liter water bottle every day in the rooms. The had a good size pool and a bar! The hotel was in a great location. The only down side we experienced, was we ordered room service and the chicken legs were bloody inside. We will be back, hopefully next year! To visit family again!

Nice hotel, Good location, near the port. Great views from all parts of hotel (exept our room). Verry helpful staff in reception. Nice and cozzy relax zone, live music in the evening. Basic breakfast, almost every day the same, but we find what ti eat and never left hungry. Verry good spa/souna zone, we enjoyed indoor pool after our day trips, outdor also very beautiful. Room was a little bit small for 3 persons and dark. Bathroom was brite and good for size also had all amenities, towels, bathrobs, slippers... Also they provide towels for pool or beach. They don't have ocean view rooms for 3 persons and you get room with half window, no balcony. Even lifts area had a fantastic view but not our room.

Unfortunately our flight was cancelled and we couldn’t fulfill our vacation. The flight the day before us was cancelled and the next days flight was also cancelled. We cancelled the booking the moment the airline cancelled our flight at 3am the same day we were suppose to arrive. Needless to say hotel refused to issue a refund due to “occupation was high.” This is unacceptable. Refund should be issued for at least nights 2-4 or even a credit for a future stay. We will be disputing this! Poor customer service!!

So the hotel is older and not right in the center of downtown but is still a simple place for a few days and it is near downtown to walk to anything you need including a rental car place and a tour offices near by. Also it is right across from the bay so you'll have a nice view (if you pick the right room.) Breakfast was alight.

Absolutely outstanding service, quality, and attentiveness. Our original reservation got bumped to a less expensive room, but were fully reimbursed for that change and given a room with a fantastic view and lavished with gifts (fruit, cheese, H2O, wine) each day as additional compensation. Manager Miguel, concierge Maria, hostesses Sonia and Luana, and all other service staff were friendly, gracious, helpful, and simply top notch. The hotel is beautiful, and in the best (i.e. most gorgeous and convenient) of Sao Miguel locations.
