Ikos Olivia

Third year running where we have visited Ikos Olivia for our family summer holiday however we’ll not be returning, as with increasing prices however diminishing levels of service and no recognition of our loyalty towards Ikos, we’ll be trying a new experience for summer 2025. Food quality still excellent, as was the service at the restaurants, with the exception of Flavours, where we could be waiting 20 mins for a top up of our drinks or even getting a drink on some occasions. Pool service was hard work this year, which was a high point on previous visits and the majority of times, I had to go to the bar to request drinks. First world problems and all that, however when you’ve been spoilt on previous visits and the service levels reduce, it does take of some of the shine. The white party was really poor this year, with the DJ playing the most random, dated music. We’ve been spoilt with DJ Lazeros on previous years. Decent holiday however when none of the family are excited about returning next year, it’s time for a change and for those Ikos prices, you need to feel excited!

This was our second visit to Ikos Olivia, and once again, it did not disappoint. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite and upgraded to the Deluxe drinks menu. Lucy took great care of us, ensuring a wonderful stay, so huge thanks to her and the team for their attention and care. We enjoyed spa treatments, including massages and a facial from Dorothy and Maria. The staff are welcoming, and the treatments use lovely products. Highly recommend booking early, especially on poor weather days. We booked swim lessons with Wonderfin, but due to the weather, we couldn’t go ahead. However, Maria was helpful and efficient in communications. Our son loved the Ariel and Moana theatre show, especially joining the stage at the end for a photo with Ariel. The kids' club team was fantastic. Our son eagerly looked forward to each morning’s session, enjoying activities like MasterChef, bug hunting, and learning about Greek heroes. He came out daily with artwork and smiles, excited for each day at the club. Children’s facilities are great, including an outdoor playground (though the water feature wasn’t functioning this year). Our son, age 3, particularly enjoyed the warm splash pool with various water jets. There’s also a giant chess set which was fun. Special thanks to Dafni and her colleague for the creative towel animals they made for Oscar, which he loved—Dafni did the same during our first stay last year, so it was lovely to see her again. The on-site gelato parlour is exquisite and as irresistible for the “big kids” as for the little ones! It would be great to have more indoor family activities for poor weather days at season’s end—maybe an indoor cinema with popcorn or using the theatre for movies/ping pong tables. The whole team was fantastic, but special thanks to Miriela, Maria, Nickolas, Sofia, Ivelina, Ellio, and Fotini.

The service was excellent from the airport transfer, to checking in and through out the stay. All staff were friendly, courteous, no matter the amount of requests. The room service was done at least twice, sometimes even 3 times. The kids club was great for families, only feedback would be more availability for kids to participate. The food in all 6 restaurants were amazing except the French dinner which could be down to preference and taste. The communication via WhatsApp was amazing. Refilling of your bar and room amenities, number of wines, drinks requested and provided, if not available, other options were given. Sorry I am not sure what others are complaining about but our experience was amazing. Keep up and make improvements where necessary. The kids loved it as well.

I have just returned from the best holiday ever. My husband and l celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with 9 family members at Ikos Olivia. On our arrival we were greeted by Hercules a delightful member of the ‘team’ who made us feel so welcome and did everything possible to make our stay so enjoyable. This young man even found us later in the week to check that everything was to our liking. From the beautiful sea view to the amazing beach, the immaculate loungers/sun beds. The hygiene is perfect which is something l especially look for. We had 5 lovely dinners at the restaurants organised by Martha which were immensely enjoyable and felt privileged to dine at all five. The choice in Flavours buffet was also excellent. The courteous staff employed at Ikos Olivia are amazing. Nothing is too much for them and they are so pleasant. From the first few hours of getting to the hotel it was a major let down. 2hrs 20 to wait for a bottle of wine via room service, ended with a visit to the bar in my pyjamas to get it myself. Food via room service was stone cold. I was asked to fill in a form at check in with any dietary requirements to be given a meal on bread via the room service (I’m gluten free!!) our hotel door would not close from the outside. Within the first 24hrs I raised the service issues with a deputy manager to be looked at with utter contempt and no apology. The door did get fixed that morning which was handy and meant we could leave the hotel room for breakfast. Things just went from bad to worse, service was terrible, another evening it took 4 staff to come to the room to understand they had given us a bottle of wine with the cork in and no bottle opener. It took me 4 nights to get a glass of Merlot wine, and that’s not through the lack of trying- being told yes and receiving something utterly different or being told they didn’t have it. My husband didn’t manage to get a glass of Chardonnay the whole entire stay. He would be told yes and be given a Sauvignon every time. This is suppose to be a hotel that publicises the fact that they have 300 varieties of wine in their cellar with a sommelier. What sommelier?!? Where are these 300 varieties of wine???? Food was luke warm at best throughout the hotel, the buffet we found was the best place to get a hot meal. Room service don’t even bother- Stone cold. The mini bar in the room would only get filled up with what you asked for.. water wasn’t even topped up unless you asked. Towels around the pool old and frayed, service lacking, 10 mins to get a menu and things forgotten and had to ask multiple times for. That’s just the trivial stuff you’d expect a 5star hotel to have nailed down. Now comes the stuff that was basically completely and utterly unsafe. (Besides the lack of food awareness) Bike hire: the member of staff at the sports centre didn’t have a clue about bikes, showed no interest at all about safety. By mid morning they had very few bikes left. My husband was given a bike with a very loose handle bar and his one brake did not work!! He gave it back and gave up. A short while into a bike ride with my daughter I realise her seat is not even secure it was moving left and right with every peddle. When handing back the bikes I find my daughter’s helmet was completely cracked at the back, so not much use at all. The whole experience left us feeling pretty infuriated. Went to the gym and one of the treadmills was out of order with the other three in use, equipment needs an upgrade! Then comes the electrical fire at 2am, staff were not trained and completely unprepared . People did not know whether to evacuate or stay in the hotel. Staff communication was 0. I would highly recommend Ikos Olivia to young families. We spent a lovely week in August 2024. We have stayed at several all inclusive resorts and this by far had the best food. The buffet and a la carte restaurants were superb. Everything is well thought out, the little touches make your stay extra special. The staff are lovely, polite and extremely helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay, we hope to be back.
