Pansion Amigos

This Pansion (not a hotel) is conveniently situated a bus ride outside of Split and makes it very good value and an affordable option for exploring the area. The rooms are modern and clean (we did stay in the main building above the restaurant) and if you have a room at the front (we stayed in room 8) a nice sea view. It really is right on the waterfront with a small shingle beach directly in front of the restaurant with good sun beds available for guests. The restaurant has a good choice but is mainly sea food, so a bit limited if you eat there more than once and don't like fish! There are little or no other restaurants that were open within easy waling distance. There's no reception desk so you book in with the waiters in the restaurant. It seems a bit odd but then again don't forget this is not at hotel. We had a few issues with a noisy fridge and smelly air conditioning in our room but didn't feel we could speak to anyone about it. So we unplugged the fridge at night and fortunately managed without the air con. The waiters are lovely and very helpful. The breakfast offer was ok but often run out of things, but if you asked they would bring out more and cook fresh eggs if requested. It is a lovely place to stay and convenient for getting into Split (bus No:60 runs every 20 minutes and you can get off right by the old city and costs 3.5Euros each way) We enjoyed our stay for 3 nights and would recommend as a place to stay for a shorty stay.

“Come as a guest leave as a friend” was the motto and I was so intrigued to think of a hotel in Croatia with the name of Amigos I just had to try it. Plus we had just come from Italy, we were tired of cities and needed chill time on the beach. This place did not disappoint. We loved our room that had a balcony overlooking the ocean. The restaurant was beautiful and had great food and a yummy breakfast was included. It was very reasonably priced, small, and Joseph, the owner made us feel comfortable and welcome from the start. It was a great introduction to Croatia and a gem of a place.

My 17 year old son and I visited this restaurant as we were after some good seafood and saw good reviews on Tripadvisor. Firstly, the restaurant is nicely located on the beach front with lovely views of the sea. Secondly, the service was fantastic. We tried two other restaurants where the service was very slow and the staff didn’t seem to care if you wanted to eat or not. Our waiter was really friendly, gave good explanations of the dishes we enquired about, as my son is gluten intolerant, and was attentive. Lastly, and probably the most important of all was the food quality and value for money. We opted for the 2-person seafood platter, and although at €65, which is a lot of money, it’s not considering what you get and the quantity, especially compared to the UK or places like Italy maybe. We had 2 whole fish, 4 huge prawns, 2 large whole squid, 8 large mussels, plus plenty of accompanying veg and potatoes. The seafood was brilliantly cooked and was very tasty! We finished it off with 2 amazing desserts at only €5 each. The desserts were a good size too :-) Overall, I would highly recommend eating here.
