The room is very unique and clean, but it is a bit troublesome that there is no elevator

The best hotel in this area, bar none, but it can only be reached by car. The front desk is friendly and the restaurant service is quite satisfying.
Remember to make reservations for restaurants and swimming pools, otherwise you may not have a seat

24 hours in this beautiful hotel and spa were made perfect by the care and attention of the staff. The stay included a day in the spa, a bespoke massage (worked wonders on my lower back pain) lunch in the spatisserie, dinner in The Mayflower restaurant, cocktails in the bar, the most luxurious room in the new section of the hotel and breakfast and a last dip in the pool. I have to give full credit to Mike and his team for their exceptional and warm welcome. Melanie in the spa was fabulous (I do hope you took time for yourself the next day). The bar team of Micheal, James and Matt make a mean cocktail and create a great atmosphere of fun and relaxation. Izzy in the Mayflower restaurant has a warmth and attention to detail that makes you feel you so special. Lily was a sweetheart at breakfast and Abi and Libbie in reception thank you for the welcome flowers What a team to compliment this beautiful hotel and spa.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Boringdon Hall Hotel and Spa. We chose a wellness room and wouldn’t have opted for anything else – the views were stunning, the bath was a highlight, and the overall atmosphere was incredibly calming. The spa facilities were excellent, especially the outdoor sun deck, which was a lovely place to unwind. The extras really made a difference – from the welcome drink to the access to fitness classes, and the relaxation lounge. One unexpected delight was the vegetarian sausages at breakfast – absolutely delicious, and I’d love to know what brand or recipe they use! There are a few small changes that would take the experience from great to exceptional. At breakfast, the preserves and honey could be improved – especially since the hotel keeps its own bees. Using their own local honey would be a brilliant touch. It would also be a lovely treat to include a small bottle of their house gin and tonic in the room, or even as a parting gift – something special that would leave a lasting impression. The only real negative was the pillows, which were a little too flat and not particularly comfortable – a pillow menu or firmer options would be welcome. Overall, a fantastic stay in a beautiful setting. We’d happily return.

Having been a regular customer for many years, our last trip was tarnished for several reasons, this time it really did not meet the standards our service that you pay good money for. I did write a letter of complaint in a constructive way to the general manager but they declined to reply hence my writing this review. Will not be visiting again, the price does not match the service or experience.

For me the first impression is the most important. On entering the hotel, it was dark and the reception didn’t look more than a temporary couple of desks. Maintenance work was also being carried out – not so good! The bar is dark and footsteps are loud on the floor which has no rugs for a splash of colour of comfort. The Mayflower restaurant (breakfast) wasn’t anything luxurious or special and, as the previous evening in the bar, the music was too loud, so much so that I had to ask for it to be turned down. The lift wasn’t working, so 70 steps to the room. I’m 70 and reasonably fit, but for others this may not be so good. The lay out in the ‘new wing’ is a bit ‘up and down’ and the wall décor in the Wellness Room hallway is quite hideous. The room was light and airy, but you couldn’t watch the TV in bed because of the angle. The bath tub in the sleeping area is not so pleasant, but one could have watched the TV from the position of the bath tub if that's what guests like, I do not. The hand held shower was wobbly and the water was spurting all over the place, which I reported to reception. The loungers along one length of the pool were close together and full, so even if you had a swim, there was nowhere to sit and relax. Thankfully, the staff were friendly, the two cocktails I had were good and Jasmin at the spa was very good. Other than that, nothing to write home about, I’m sorry to say.

This stay was booked as a present for my mum’s 60th birthday - we were really excited to visit as we had heard great things. The hotel’s spa facilities are fantastic, we both enjoyed treatments which were wonderful. Incredibly relaxing and professional - I had a full body massage with Ashleigh and wanted to mention her personally as she was so friendly, helpful and made the experience really enjoyable. Our dinner in the Mayflower restaurant was also delicious - we really enjoyed our dishes and the staff were attentive and helpful. However, there were unfortunately some elements of our stay that I felt didn’t deliver on 5* standards and took away the ‘wow’ factor for us. When we were being shown to our room for the first time, I felt that the first impression was somewhat dampened. I know now that our executive room was up a flight of stairs but having not visited before, I was a little disheartened when the door opened up to the out building to be met with dirty bedsheets and linen on the floor alongside dirty plates and cutlery, where housekeeping was cleaning up. I completely understand housekeeping’s role but to see that on the way to our room felt somewhat off putting and took away the shine and that initial reaction. When we arrived in our room - we also found used towels and robes on the furniture outside on the decking next to the hot tub. These had obviously been forgotten to be cleaned from the previous guests and honestly, it felt a bit sloppy. We also discovered a note in our room where my brother had arranged for a bottle of champagne for my mums celebrations. This was a fabulous surprise but when we were shown to our room initially, the staff member didn’t mention this - didn’t point out the note or say this had been arranged, or that we could let the team know when we wanted the bottle. I had to call reception to understand, and I feel that should have been something that was mentioned when we were shown the room. I hadn’t realised my brother had arranged this, and had added an extra Laurent Perrier to my booking previously - I subsequently asked the receptionist to kindly remove the bottle I had added but, upon checking in or before arriving, the staff didn’t mention my extra I had added - or queried whether I would have liked it in the room etc. Obviously in the end it didn’t matter regardless, because my brother then surprised us and I cancelled my extra - but it I had not done that, I wonder when my added extras would have been mentioned by staff or when I would have been asked about it. It felt like forgotten details which is a shame when we were wanting to make mum feel special - it also took away from the moment my brother was trying to create for her by surprising her. Within the private decking area of our room, two wooden slats on two different steps were wobbly and came away as we walked down the stairs. We had to position them back. The rail next to the stairs was also extremely wobbly and this felt super danger

This hotel is lovely, the spa is wonderful, it could do with some nice candle oration light features in the spa garden area but it’s still lovely. Bar service was a little slow, often the bar was left unattendedit’s very expensive but the surroundings are steeped in history and glamour so you expect to pay a lot for drinks and food. We had one of the basic rooms , very large and clean comfortable beds lovely toiletries and coffee, the coffee is Voyager which is lovely but it was 3 months out of date . This hotel is torture spa heads and history lovers, staff are wonderful it’s just very very tranquil .

Beautiful hotel, gorgeous rooms and very friendly staff. The spa is very clean and the food at the restaurants is excellent. Be aware that the lift is out of order which may make it difficult for some to easily reach the spa. It’s a Wonderful spot for a ladies weekend.
