I’ve been more than fair and reasonable and given lots of time for the hotel and the local police to respond , but neither have so I will tell the story. We had a very nice rooms in a good standard hotel , not outstanding but certainly good especially the locations and the wonderful views and beach . Beach bar is fantastic btw. Problem was we had a item missing from a suitcase in our room .The item was one of two identical except for colour , both newly purchased and gift wrapped items , not over valuable about £100 each but very hard to get anywhere else but SA. Only one was missing the other had its wrapping torn open but left in the suitcase . We immediately upon realising the item was missing reported to duty management and staff , even eventually the local police (not even acknowledged the report) and as of writing this review nothing has been communicated or discussed or resolved after this long I’m assuming there is no desire to respond. They must know who and when and couldn’t care less. All I ask is for the item returned or replaced .. I couldn’t care less about the money it’s the principle and the fact I’d looked forward to adding to my collection that item from my favourite craft shop on Stellenbosch

We stopped in for an impromptu lunch and were welcomed from the parking area till we sat down for lunch by warm professional staff. Amelia’s is a beautiful restaurant with a patio overlooking Lookout Beach. The Mediterranean style decor were reminiscent of the amalfi coast. The food was excellent and generous. My son commented that the bouillabaisse was the best meal he had this year! Thanks to our server Lethu that was attentive and kind. We will certainly be back.

The hotel invites you in as you drive down to park literally outside their door. Being close to The Lookout and the boutique-looking town of Plettenberg Bay were simply amazing! The lighting in and outside the hotel made my camera take pictures that came out looking like I was in a brochure, perfect lighting and enchanting colours!

This hotel is impeccably clean, with beautiful views of the sea and within walking distance of the main town. The service was wonderful from the moment we checked in, during dinner, breakfast and through to check-out. Our room was beautiful with a side view of the sea. We only stayed at The Plettenberg for one night but hoped we had stayed there for longer. It’s a beautiful hotel and we look forward to coming back soon.

This hotel is spectacular. Incredible 5* star property, with high end interiors and location. The staff were also exceptionally helpful and friendly. The location and view are incredible. It’s very simple to walk to the shops (during the day) or the beach. The hotel is so well equipped with multiple pools, a small gym, bar, restaurant and terrace. It’s incredibly stylish interior. Our room was so good, with a very large bathroom, walk in wardrobe and sofa in the bedroom. The staff were so helpful, at meal time and with advice for activities to do. We are in the restaurant for dinner twice, and all the dishes were good, particularly the steak. Breakfast was also good, with a large buffet and an a la carte menu of cooked options. We also used the spa for a 90 min couples massage that was very very good.

I'm in my 60's, done a fair bit of travelling and stayed in some great hotels but the Plettenberg is easily my favourite. From the minute we arrived we were treated perfectly. Every member of staff we encountered were relentlessly friendly helpful but also unobtrusive. The rooms were lovely and no detail was missed and with a very generous well stocked fridge. The pools were great and of course have that spectacular view of the coastline below that you can enjoy from the most comfortable sunbeds imaginable. Breakfast was excellent and food in the restaurant was on point and not at all expensive. Again service was superb. We stayed two nights but all of us wished we had booked at least one more night. I hope that we will be back. We so enjoyed our trip to South Africa but staying here was a real highlight that we will forever remember and in itself a reason to return to this beautiful country. One hopefully constructive thought. The hill up to the town was quite steep. The car park is staffed by great people and it would be wonderful if they had golf carts or something to ferry guests up the hill. Even if only during the day. As I say just a thought.
