Great location in centre of Playa, fabulous and panoramic sea views, yet amazingly peaceful. Stylish colonial-style building, spotlessly clean and well maintained by wonderful staff. New pool, several shaded sitting areas, all with fine views and attractive planting, and each room has a sea-facing terrace with comfy sunbeds ( not always easy to lie down in shade though). Rooms are a pleasant change from the standard modern hotel - traditional furnishings and comfy beds and high quality linens. Bathroom small but perfectly formed. Plenty of wardrobe space. A cross between an exquisite boutique hotel and a five star b and b - honesty bar, no 24 hour reception, serve yourself breakfast etc - but no less pleasing for that. I enjoyed the breakfasts, though I'd guess the eggs and excellent bacon might be a little cool if you like a lie in. Slight downside was the fresh coffee - a slow queue for the single nespresso machine or a thermal jug of barely warm coffee. Room for improvement here. The overall experience though is excellent, with a few minor flaws easily outweighed by a very special feel. A welcome change from bland hotels. A gem, to be returned to.

I was genuinely sad to leave this place. Wished I were staying three weeks not three days. By contrast I am in a standard hotel now. Noise of other guests in the elevator, standard ikea style furniture. Casa del Embajador is a dream. There are very few places like it. It is as if you are staying in a friend’s house, one that has been in the family for decades. The art, the furniture, the plants, all real and lovingly cared for. Only twelve rooms and all face the sea. Sound of surf reaches embroidered sheets. The view is impossibly beautiful. Time stops. Deeply relaxing and nourishing. A discreet quietness everywhere all day long. Guests reading books not phones. Everyone cordial yet respectful of one another’s private relaxation. Lovely staff, kind, interested and helpful. Didn’t even show my passport until day 2. One of my top hotel discoveries in my life, probably THE top.

We have just spent 2 weeks at this lovely hotel of just 11 rooms. It's in a wonderful position above the promenade, with spectacular views across the sea to Fuenteventura. Everyone has their own sunbeds and recliners outside their room to benefit from the view. Daisy, who basically runs the place along with her husband, cleaning rooms, making breakfast etc was wonderful. Her lovely, constantly smiling personality and helpfulness made our stay. The very good breakfast is served in a pretty courtyard and the hotel is full of genuine character as it used to be the ambassador's residence. There's a large private carpark at the back.

We only booked this on the Monday before Xmas for a short 4 night break between Xmas and New Year. I feel incredibly lucky that there was availability. The translation is The Ambassador’s House, and that’s what it felt like. Only a dozen or so rooms, so didn’t feel busy. Daisy and her husband couldn’t do enough, we genuinely felt that it was their mission to make sure that everything about our stay was perfect…..and it was. For all us Brits………you get your own sunbed! Right outside your room! With a view of the sea! And pretty much get all the sun from dawn to dusk. Plenty of breakfast options. The hot food was sometimes only warm when we had breakfast, but really not an issue for us. The bar operates on an honesty basis. Plenty of restaurants in Playa Blanca that will suit all tastes and budgets I think some of the images are a little out of date, and outside areas in particular are far better now, than shown. If we head back to Lanzarote in the future, this place will right at the top of the list Thank you Daisy (and your husband of course)

What a charming place situated very conveniently in the centre of Playa Blanca. So peaceful with wonderful views over the sea. Only 12 rooms with plenty of space in the public areas. House keeping impeccable and rooms a good size all with sea views. Breakfast buffet nicely served in a calming court yard. Staff fantastic. Hope to return.

Having visited Playa Blanca for many years we always wanted to see what was behind the Green Door along the prom. Well - we did - and should have done years ago. This little hotel is simply superb - so very well maintained and clean - service impeccable We felt that we were staying in someone's luxury villa with servants WE WILL BE BACK!

What work does it cost, or rather, what is the human misery that drives the managers of this very expensive hotel to serve every day, invariably and for at least 8 days, the same miserable breakfast? And I mean it when I say miserable, because I am using its RAE meaning in which it speaks of someone miserable as “extremely stingy”. I got tired of it on the third day and went to have my breakfast in a place with friendly people serving you, where they gave you a half-litre glass of juice of the fruit of your choice, a proper toast, not charred like the one at the H del Embajador and the coffee you wanted, not the indecent Nespresso capsule that the waitress chose. The arrival at the hotel was like a horror movie, a certain Monica had threatened me by email that she would not see me if I did not tell her the exact time I would arrive at the hotel (I cannot imagine the reason that compels someone to threaten a client), then this person, whom I never saw again, began to run 10 meters ahead, supposedly showing us the hotel: “and here is a self-service drinks counter”, she said, running and we said: ah, how is this? That after paying the enormous amount of money for the hotel, I have to serve myself and pay for the drink on New Year’s Day??? Someone had to tell the truth, criticism of management is for improvement. Let’s hope so. The rest is just as the previous reviews say.
