Can't beat the downtown location (and parking) and all that history! Beautiful, old-fashioned lobby. Our third-floor room was basic and small but clean, with an updated bathroom. Since I used to live in Placerville and am very familiar with downtown, I made sure we requested a room AWAY from Main Street and the Liars Bench so it was nice and quiet. Would definitely stay there again. Now if they'd only get rid of "George" (the repulsive hanging mannequin down the street--nothing to do with the hotel) downtown Placerville would be perfect.

Great service from staff. Know that this is a historic hotel. When the AC wasn’t working properly in our room, we were promptly upgraded to a better room. Make sure you grab a meal at Smith Flat House. Minutes away and outstanding. But don’t uber there. We did and had trouble finding a driver to get us back to downtown Placerville. Also, be sure to visit Nello Olivo wine tasting shop on Bee street. Good wine and great venue.

Cary Hotel
Really enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. The history behind it is very fascinating and the decorations went along with that. The front staff Carrie was so super friendly if we are ever in Placerville, we would stay here again.

I enjoyed my two night stay here, but the place is a little bit funky. The bathroom was clean and modern, but the rooms are kind of dated and getting luggage throughthe elevator is a wrestling match despite it charm of being so old. The building was built in 1857 and it’s an interesting place to stay. I would probably go back because the staff was great And it’s got a good location for what I do when I’m in town.
