This expansive resort features gardens, lake sports, naturalist exhibits, spa and golf course on a substantial property of forests, lakes and meadows, meticulously kept. Accommodations include a comfortable, modern, lodge house and a variety of housekeeping cottages. Staff are super friendly. Food available from a half dozen restaurants and cafes is well-prepared from a typical southern menu; vegetarian options are limited. Naturalist exhibits are excellent with good interpretive programs. Butterfly conservancy is exceptional.

The directions to check into the cottages were not simple. There should be better signage/directions to get you to the correct check in place without driving around. We stayed in a cottage from a Thursday through Sunday. Five of us stayed there. The 2 bedroom is advertised as sufficient for up to 8 people. Five was perfect for us. The kitchen was lacking for us. The can opener was rusted and bent. There was no cutting board or dish cloths. The couch, dining table & chairs and bedroom furniture were fine. I can’t say the same for the living room chair. It was dirty and disgusting. I would like to highlight the help of two employees, Jaime and Abundance. After checking out, my vehicle would not start. I stopped these ladies and asked them to help me and they did. I got my vehicle started after jumping it with my mophie charging station. Jaime called her cousin, the master mechanic, who talked us through the process. I am forever grateful to them for going out of their way to help. I will have to return to really take advantage of the resort itself. I had other things to do away from the resort.

The overall resort is in a beautiful mountain setting; the grounds are immense and are for the most part, well maintained; there are parts of the property not in use that need to be torn down or renovated ( an eyesore) ; staff is friendly but appear to be understaffed; service in restaurants are a little slow; food quality is good; attention to detail is lacking; will definitely return in future as it is very peaceful there

We had one snag with the bed and breakfast package. We went to eat at the Country Store on Mothers Day with our vouchers. They decided to stop serving breakfast well before 11 and wanted us to wait 45 mins before they started lunch. We ended up going back to the hotel. Kitt and the Concierge staff more than made up for this with a nice buffet and brunch experience at the hotel. They went above and beyond! We will definitely be back to enjoy the hotel. I hope the Country Store gets this worked out because there are several reviews with this same experience. Have been going here for along time and love the grounds at Callaway.

The hospitality of staff was great, extremely nice. It was a nice, quiet downtime. Beds & room were comfortable. I wish the beach & activities(zipline, tree top, boats, ect) were available during weekdays. It's only offered during weekends until summer. Food & snacks are a little expensive. Pool area is great, clean.

I visited with 3 friends for a girl's weekend. We rented a cottage. It was very nice, remodeled and spacious, and riding around in a Callaway cruiser was super fun. We all visited the spa for massages. Two of us only had massages, the other two had massages and bought products. Margo at the spa was super friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed spa time. However, when we were checking out, we were told they were adding a 20% gratuity for our massage therapists which we all agreed to. However, when we received our email receipts, the gratuity added was actually 25%. Also, the two of us who bought products were charged sales tax on our entire bill, including the massage. The two who only had massages were not. In Georgia, it is not legal to charge sales tax on massage therapy services (GA Code 43-24A-23). After far too much back and forth with the spa manager, she grudgingly agreed to refund the sales tax charged as an act of "good faith" but denied that the law applied to this situation. Although we had a nice time, the spa billing experience negatively affected our trip, and I would not recommend Callaway for a girl's trip. The lodge and restaurant staff were all very nice and helpful. Just watch those spa bills!
