Calle Cinco is a small resort a little way off route 505 near Pilar. It has a great pool (highly chlorinated) and a decent restaurant, and these are open to day/evening visitors. The accommodation consists of little bamboo A-frames which look pretty and are set in nice gardens. We enjoyed the pool and restaurant but unfortunately not the stay. The rooms are not at all secure, the windows are flimsy and many of the latches are broken. The door locks are also not up to much, I won't go into details but I was easily able to enter our locked room without a key. No safe box is provided. Inside is very basic, the furniture is rustic, beds are rough bamboo frames with 3 inch foam mattresses. These are not comfortable to sleep on, and you have to be very careful if you want to avoid scraping your skin on the rough edges. Watch for protruding nails elsewhere in the room too. Power outlets are not well located, e.g. behind the bedhead. The bathroom is squeezy, the side-facing toilet in the larger rooms have very little leg room, but the worst aspect is that the water in our room was only a trickle nearly all of the time. When we complained we were told the water pressure had been reduced but don't worry we'll fix it now... a short time later it was shut off again. Every single time. After 3 days of having to either complain every time or shower from a bucket, we were not happy. I was also quite concerned that with all this bamboo and so little water pressure, I saw no fire prevention measures at all - no visible fire extinguishers, exit plan or signage. Nice pool, nice restaurant, friendly staff but not recommended to sleep here.
