Morokolo Safari Lodge Self-Catering

What an amazing place! We have loved every iminute of our 3 day stay here. The lodge & suites were beautiful & well-equipped, the surroundings were astonishing. My mum almost cried on arrival when she saw our stunning accommodation! We absolutely loved our game drives - the ponchos were a welcome addition - make sure you wrap up warm for the early morning drives. We also enjoyed lounging around the pool in the sunshine on our return. Caitunn was very responsive and helpful during the booking process and our arrival. Carel is a wonderful guide. He went above and beyond for us and his determination to find a cat really paid off when we found 3 lions right next to the road! Carel was so informative & knowledgeable, as well as being friendly and humourous. Didn’t want to ever leave! Thank you!

We had 2 wonderful stays at Morokolo lodge. Being the only guests at that time ( because of Heathrow blackout) we enjoyed the great property and the gery very committed Ranger Niel. It was simply great and we definitely will come back with some friends to enjoy the Black Rhino concession but also pilanesberg national park.

We spent 4 nights at Morokolo Safari Lodge in January. I would like to highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in a safari vacation. The executive suite was very large and well equipped for a self catering lodge. We were even lucky enough to see a small group of elephants pass by our property one morning about 100 feet from our bedroom window. The AC kept us cool on the hot days. The furnishings were comfortable and modern. The appliances were great for making our own meals. There is no grocery store nearby so you will need to pack everything you might want to eat or drink. There is a water purifier in the suite but we brought our own bottled water. We were the only 2 people at the lodge that week. Niel was our safari guide. He was exceptional at guiding us to see the big 5. His knowledge of the animals and the park was amazing. He taught us a lot about the flora and the fauna we were seeing. He was actually as excited as we were when we got a rare leopard sighting one morning. We were lucky enough to see cheetahs, lions, water buffalo, elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, impala, gazelle, kudu, baboon, wildebeest, crocodile and numerous bird species. We couldn't have been happier. We also got lucky with the weather. I think the self catering is ideal because we didn't have to worry about getting back for dinner at 6pm when a lot of the animals are coming out of hiding. The safari timing was very flexible. Niel even came knocking at our door at 7pm to see a group of lions in the dark! close to our property. Crazy but amazing experience. We were the only ones out because the other lodges were at dinner. We didn't get champagne and caviar but we got the best safari viewing you could imagine. The private reserve is tucked into small mountains making it much different from viewing on a savannah. The scenery is spectacular even if you aren't seeing animals. The private game reserve is attached to the much bigger Pilanesberg National park which you have access to. My wife and I have travelled extensively. Overall 5+ star experience as long as you don't mind cooking your own meals. The nightly rates are reasonable. I was so impressed that I will come back again with my adult daughter next year. We rented a car from Lanseria airport and drove to the lodge. The N4 toll highway was an easy drive just don't drive at night.

We had a wonderful stay at Morokolo. The game drives with Niel were among the best we’ve ever been on. The executive suite was private and well appointed. We especially enjoyed the braai boma, the soaking tub, the comfy bed, and the outdoor shower.

Great accommodation, clean, spacious and comfortable with a nice view. Niel our safari guide went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our safari drives. He is very knowledgeable and clearly loves his job. Thank you for an amazing stay.

I booked out the entire lodge (including the Executive Suite) for a weekend away with my family to celebrate my 40th birthday. The lodge is beautiful and well appointed. Our guide for the weekend, Niel, was excellent. He is knowledgeable, friendly and relaxed. Everyone at the lodge went to tremendous effort to ensure that my family had an exceptional stay! It was a real treat!
