La Locanda del Geco

I stayed at the Locanda del Geco last summer. The location is excellent, in the heart of Marina di Pietrasanta and just a few meters from the beach facilities. The hotel is very well maintained, the room was impeccable, and the welcome was excellent. Highly recommended!

The building is older but quite functional. Breakfast is served from 8:30-10:30, with only sweet dishes and rather small portions. The staff is friendly, including all the cleaning ladies, who are quick and competent and make the rooms wonderful and spotlessly clean. The hotel manager is also very prompt, hardworking, and very kind with even the smallest details. The rooms are older, and the windows are a bit thin, but that's typical of the building. However, especially before mid-August, it's very noisy because it's in the center of Marina di Pietrasanta, so you have to go to bed before 10:00 PM or 10:30 PM at the latest because it's very noisy. Also, the building next door, which is made up of small apartments, was very rude, and they made a lot of noise in the evening, especially by slamming doors. Especially during bedtime. You know, I was a heavy sleeper, but I managed to get a good night's sleep. The property isn't bad because it's well-located in the center and 50 meters from the beach. While all the beaches require a fee, there's a free one near the pier, almost under the pier. There are also showers to rinse your feet and body, and there's a mini-gym on the beach. The restaurants nearby are the best, with average prices ranging from €35 to €67. Delicious fish and meat are available. I recommend it from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, and then from 5:00 pm to midnight. A good place to save money is Porchetteria Toscana, which is also Italian. They serve excellent, non-greasy focaccia, and the average price is around €20. Overall, it's not a bad property, but not for long stays because the prices are very high. I recommend booking through ***********, as they sometimes have offers. Tuscany is Tuscany, so you'll always have a great time.

Terrible facility. After days of messages about making an advance bank transfer for the dog, copying the facility, requests for documents, and uncertainty about parking, I was so stressed that I asked to cancel the reservation for one night, which I had already paid for. They said no. So I had to pay anyway; all these formalities aren't listed on the website. I decided not to go anyway. Nothing like this has ever happened before!

We stayed at the Locanda del Geco in the week of August. We had a good time and will gladly return. Very nice, clean and functional rooms; excellent location in the central street of Tonfano with shops and restaurants. To get to the sea it takes just a few minutes on foot. The only note is the breakfast: I hoped it would be more varied and with fresh products (e.g. croissants). If they could improve this point they would be top!

Günstiges Hotel, zumindest in der Vorsaison Ende Mai. Sehr einfach eingerichtet und auch etwas hellhörig, für eine Nacht alleine auf Durchreise aber absolut in Ordnung. Für einen Urlaub zu Zweit würde ich dann aber doch ein anderes Hotel wählen. Dickleibige Reisende könnten im Flur stecken bleiben :-)
